Abstract

A detachable mortar board 1 comprises a rectangular tray with three upright sides 2, 3, 4 and a downward sloping off loading side 5. The side opposing this offloading side is a reinforced back 4b which has a centrally placed vertical aperture 6. This aperture is mated with a vertical pivot pin 7 which is fixed to a clamping means 8. In use the clamping means is used to secure the device to a support such as a scaffold pipe or builder's stand or trestle. The mounting arrangement allows for the tray to be pivotally moved side to side, easily detached and repositioned.

Description

I

Instant Lift Out, Re-locatable, Pivotini Builder's Work Tray Apparatus Field: This invention relates to an Instant Lift Out, Re-locatable, Pivoting Builder's Work Tray Apparatus, to aid and speed up work logistics of Builders, Bricklayers and Plasterers -relocating work trays, hod canying, holding and discharging masonry mixes, building materials and tools at different desired adjustable locations, levels and yaw angles as bricklaying progresses, it also minimises back injuries from eliminating continuous bending low down to reach masonry mixes. The work tray can be attached without tools to horizontal or vertical scaffold pipes or any available builders' stand or trestle.

EXISTING STATE OF THE ART -DRAWBACKS

In most present day building sites the practice is to place masonry mixes on any available support board -on top of a stack of bricks, wooden boxes, or crates. This practice is fraught with logistical problems, which slow down the progress of work when relocating the masonry mix support board. It also, results in back injuries when bricklayers have to bend down to reach materials placed on wooden boxes at the wrong height.

INVENTIVE STEP / OBJECT: The inventive step of the present invention is to overcome the above-mentioned logistical problems in the present state of the art by providing an Instant Lift Out, Relocating, Pivoting Builder's Work Tray Apparatus which is easy to lift out and relocate at the best height and yaw angle to suit the workman's reach as building work progresses.

NO ANTICiPATIONS: At the time of filing, Searches on Patent databases and Product Searches produced no anticipations for an Instant Lift Out, Relocating, Pivoting Builder's Work Tray Apparatus for holding masonry mixes, building materials and tools at adjustable desired elevations and yaw angles, whilst working with scaffolding or level ground.

Summary of Invention: -Comprises a rectangular tray embodying upright sides, upright back, and downward sloping off-loading front side, provided with pivoting means, mating with versatile pivot provided on an adjustable clamp, with captive wing nut, needs "no tools to use or lose" for attachment to a scaffold pipe support.

USES: To aid and speed up work logistics of Builders, Bricklayers and Plasterers -re-locatable work tray, hod carrying, holding and discharging masonry mixes, building materials and tools at adjustable desired locations, levels and yaw angles.

Advantages: 1. Quick and easy to lift tray out and relocate as work dictates.

2. Convenient to adjust tray for different desired elevations and yaw angles.

3. Doubles as hod for carrying and holding masonry mixes.

4. Reduces back injury by eliminating continuous bending low down to reach.

5. Versatile clamp provides vertical pivot pin on vertical and horizontal pipes.

6. Captive wing nut feature -needs "no tools to use or lose".

DESCRIPTION

I. Referring to the drawings, the present invention titled "Instant Lift Out, Re-locatable, Pivoting Builder's Work Tray Apparatus", to aid Builders in holding and discharging masonry mixes at adjustable levels, comprises a robust, flat bottom rectangular tray, 1, embodying two upright sides, 2 & 3, an upright back, 4, and one downward sloping off-load side, 5, the upright back, 4, is provided with yaw axis pivoting means, 6, for instant secure engagement and instant lift out disengagement from a versatile mating pivot, 7, provided on an adjustable sliding pipe clamp, 8c, for secure attachment without tools to a vertical scaffold pipe, 9, (figs 1 & 3) or horizontal scaffold pipe, 10, (figs. 2 & 4), or any available builders' stand or trestle.

2. The tray, 1, construction includes a reinforced back, 4b, (fig. 5), reinforcements, I c, (figs 3 & 4) beneath the flat bottom, I b, the method of manufacture includes sheet metal fabrication -welded and/or riveted, including alternatively, heavy duty injection moulded plastic manufacture with supporting ribs, with recommended tray dimensions of 70cms wide, 45cms deep and 7cms high sides.

3. The tray yaw axis pivoting means includes a vertical cylindrical hole, 6, provided in the reinforced back, 4b, (fig. 5).

4. The versatile mating pivot means, 7, (figs. 3, 4, & 6) provided on the adjustable sliding pipe clamp, 8c, includes a bent "L" shaped cylindrical steel pivot pin, 8p, attached, 8a, to the scaffold pipe clamp, 8c, the bent pivot pin, 8p, mating with the cylindrical vertical hole, 6, so provided to facilitate instant secure engagement, instant lift out disengagement, and a vertical yaw axis pivot pin, 8p, whether the clamp, 8c, is attached to a vertical scaffold pipe, 9, (figs. 1 & 3), or a horizontal pipe, 10, (figs. 2 & 4) providing instant relocation of tray, 1, as work dictates.

5. The pipe clamp, 8c, (fig. 6) comprises a hinged open jaw clamshell type clamp, 8c, with a sufficiently long captive tee bolt, 8b and captive wing nut, 8w so provided that the Apparatus needs "no tools to use or lose". 5'
