Abstract

A stirrer to be used in a microwave oven is attached to the wall or floor of the microwave by a suction pad, screw thread or bayonet fitting and comprises a rod 2 and a spoon 4. The spoon 4 is attached to the rod 2 by a wing nut and bolt 3. The wing nut and bolt provide the means for the apparatus to be adjustable for different sized cooking containers. An additional upright support enables the unit to be anchored using a suction pad to the oven floor. The stirring action is achieved by the rotation of the turntable in relation to the fixed spoon.

Description

<p>1 2434328 Microwave Spoon This invention relates to a device for

stirring food during the cooking process in a microwave oven.</p>

<p>Many people use microwave ovens for convenience rather than conventional cooking techniques.</p>

<p>However, the use of a microwave oven to warm food does not heat the food stuff uniformly throughout. For instance, if a bowl of soup where to be heated in a microwave oven the container is heated and the soup is only warm at the surface adjacent to the container. To overcome this problem the present invention proposes a removable attachment which may be anchored to the oven wall to which a spoon is supported, a stirring action is created as the microwave oven turntable revolves.</p>

<p>The unit is fixed into the oven and anchored to the wall using preferably a suction pad.</p>

<p>The fixing could also be achieved by other means such as a screw thread or bayonet connection. The unit may also be fixed to the oven's ceiling or floor.</p>

<p>The stirring means is preferably provided by a spoon, although the stirring means may also be provided by other means, such as a fork or paddle.</p>

<p>The support is adjustable to suit any type of cooking container.</p>

<p>All parts are constructed from microwave safe plastics.</p>

<p>The invention is now described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows an example of a simple unit.</p>

<p>Figure 2 shows an alternative support.</p>

<p>In figure 1 the unit is attached to the wall of the microwave oven using a suction pad (1). The spoon is supported by rod (2). The spoon (4) is attached by a wing nut and bolt (3).</p>

<p>The wing nut and bolt provide the means for the apparatus to be adjustable for different cooking containers. The unit is adjusted so that the spoon is inserted into the food stuff to be heated. As the oven turntable rotates a stirring action is created.</p>

<p>In figure 2 the apparatus is set up with an additional upright support (5) enabling the unit to be anchored using a suction pad (1) to the oven floor.</p>
