Description

Description 243345 Title

Hand-held Power Tool

Prior Art

The invention relates to a hand-held power tool, in particular a hand-held planing machine, according to the preamble of Claim 1.

Hand-held power tools, in particular hand-held planing machines, are known which comprise a guide channel for ejecting shavings and/or abrasive particles. The guide channel is, therefore, integrated in the housing of the hand-held power tool and opens out, for example, in the lateral or rear region of the housing. A collection container for the shavings and/or abrasive particles may be attached to the guide channel. The hand-held power tool may comprise a blower unit or suction unit which creates a current of air in the guide channel in order to remove shavings and/or abrasive particles from the working region of the hand-held power tool and to deliver them into the collection container.

A hand-held planing machine is known from EP 1 428 619 A in which a lateral shavings ejector is provided in the front upper region of the hand-held planing machine. A collection container is attached to the shavings ejector.

Disclosure of the Invention

The subject matter of the invention is a hand-held power tool with the features of Claim 1.

The hand-held power tool according to the invention has an aperture at a rear end of the housing for ejecting shavings and/or abrasive particles, at least one deflection element being provided for deflecting the shavings and/or abrasive particles. The deflection element has the advantage that the shavings ejection which is carried out at the rear end of the housing, may be directed. The deflection element allows the shavings and/or abrasive particles to be deflected in a desired direction so that they do not hinder the operation of the hand-held power tool. Due to the deflection element, the direction of the shavings ejector is not dependent on the direction of the guide channel in which the shavings and/or abrasive particles are removed from the working region by means of a current of air, but may be deflected into a different desired direction.

Hereinafter, instead of "shavings and/or abrasive particles" only the simplified form "shavings" is used, the term "shavings" being intended to encompass abrasive particles, dust particles, or the like.

The hand-held power tool according to the invention comprises a housing which is formed from at least one housing part but which may be formed from a plurality of housing parts. A guide channel for removing shavings and/or abrasive particles from a working region of the hand-held power tool is provided in the housing. In the working region, for example, a cylindrical blade shaft is arranged for removing shavings, consisting in particular of a wood-like material. The blade shaft may, for example, be driven via a driving belt by an electric motor of the hand-held power tool. In order to remove shavings from the working region through the guide channel, a current of air is generated in the hand-held power tool by means of a blower or suction device. Suitable blower or suction devices are

known from the prior art.

The shavings are ejected at a rear end of the housing, by the guide channel extending from a working region arranged in the front part of the hand-held power tool along the length of the hand-held power tool and opening out to the rear, so that the shavings and/or abrasive particles are ejected to the rear. In this embodiment, at one rear end of the housing, the guide channel has an aperture which is located at the end of the guide channel facing away from the working region.

Within the scope of the present invention, "front" and "rear" refer to the working direction in which the hand-held power tool is used.

In principle, the deflection element may deflect the shavings ejector in any direction, for example upwards or downwards. Preferably the at least one deflection element has, however, a deflection direction towards one side relative to the housing. "Towards one side relative to the housing" within the scope of the present invention also refers to the working direction in which the hand-held power tool is used. If the hand-held power tool is viewed in the working direction, there is respectively one side to the left and one side to the right of the housing. If the shavings ejector is deflected towards one of the two sides, left or right, of the housing, the ejected shavings do not hinder the operator of the hand-held power tool.

A deflection element is further preferred in which the deflection device may be adjusted such that the shavings and/or abrasive particles are selectively ejected towards one side or the other side relative to the housing. This additionally increases the operating comfort of the hand-held power tool, as the operator is able to adjust the side towards which the shavings are ejected, as required.

Preferably, the at least one deflection element is arranged in the region of the aperture of the guide channel, the deflection element being able to be at least partially integrated into the housing of the hand-held power tool.

The deflection element is accordingly attached to. the rear end of the housing. Alternatively, the deflection element may also be arranged in the housing, for example by the guide channel respectively having one branch towards one of the two sides. Each branch towards one of the two sides opens out towards one of the two sides of the housing, so that the shavings may be ejected towards one of the two sides. The direction of the shavings ejection may be adjusted externally via a switch, for example a rotary switch, on the housing of the hand-held power tool. By means of the switch, the current of air is deflected along one of the two branches, by one of the two branches being closed and the other branch being switched to open.

In order to be able to adjust the deflection direction of the deflection element, the at least one deflection element is preferably configured to be movable. The deflection element is, in particular, designed to be movable relative to the housing, so that the direction of the shavings ejection may be selected relative to the housing. The deflection element is, in particular, manually movable.

"Movable relative to the housing" is intended to mean, within the scope of the present invention, that the deflection element is releasably or unreleasably fastened to the housing and the position of the deflection element may be altered on the housing, without releasing the fastening. The deflection element is intended, in particular, to be movable between two positions, a first position being characterised by the deflection of the shavings ejection towards one side relative to the housing and a second position being characterised by the deflection of the shavings ejection towards the other side relative to the housing.

The at least one deflection element may, for example, be configured to be movable relative to the housing so that it is rotatable relative to the housing. The deflection element may, therefore, be arranged in the extension of the guide channel at the aperture thereof and thus formed such that the current of air escaping from the guide channel is deflected towards one of the two sides. The deflection element may, for example, be a tubular component, which is bent or angled between a first and a second tube part so that the axes of the two tube parts are located at an angle, for example perpendicular to one another. At the end facing away from the guide channel, the deflection element has an aperture for the shavings ejection, the aperture being arranged such that the shavings ejection is carried out towards those sides, towards which the deflection element is bent or angled. The deflection element may also substantially have the shape of a portion of a hollow sphere, in particular a quarter of a hollow sphere. The deflection element is, therefore, rotatably fastened to the housing of the hand-held power tool in a manner such that the deflection element may be substantially rotated to and fro by a half rotation between two positions. A first position of the deflection element is intended to allow the deflection of the shavings ejection towards one side. By manual rotation of the deflection element substantially by a half rotation, the deflection element may be moved into a second position in which the shavings ejection is deflected towards the other side. Accordingly, with such a rotatably mounted deflection element, the direction of the shavings ejection may be easily adjusted towards one of the two sides relative to the housing. The rotatable fastening may, for example, be carried out via a thread-like connection, by the housing having a recess with a type of internal thread for receiving the deflection element, the deflection element having a type of external thread on its aperture facing the housing.

In a further embodiment, the at least one deflection element is configured to be movable relative to the housing as it is designed to be pivotable relative to the housing.

The at least one deflection element is preferably pivotable relative to a vertical axis of the housing from a first position of the deflection element with a deflection direction towards the one side into a second position of the deflection element with a deflection direction towards the other side. According to the desired shavings ejection direction, the deflection element may be pivoted and/or tilted round from a first position into a second position.

This embodiment with only one deflection element also allows, by simple manual operation, the direction of the shavings ejection to be adjusted towards the one or the other side. In a simple embodiment, the pivotable deflection element has substantially the shape of a portion of a hollow sphere, in particular a quarter of a hollow sphere. The spherical deflection element is pivotably mounted in the region of the aperture of the guide channel about a substantially vertical axis, "vertical" referring to the alignment of the hand-held power tool during the operation thereof.

In a further embodiment, the at least one deflection element is configured to be movable relative to the housing, such that it is designed to be extendable relative to the housing. In this embodiment, the at least one deflection element is extendable between a first position of the deflection element in which the deflection element is integrated at least partially in the housing and a second position in which the deflection element is located at least partially outside the housing. In the second extended position, the deflection element deflects the shavings ejection towards one of the two sides. The at least one deflection element is, for example, extendably fastened to the housing, such that guide elements are provided in the housing. An aperture in a form corresponding to the deflection element may serve as the guide element, which positively receives the deflection element and by means of which the deflection element is recessed into the housing. The deflection element may be operated from the outside, by being moved along the guide element. It may be pulled out from its first position out of the housing into its second position and/or pushed in from its second position substantially outside the housing into its first position into the housing. The deflection element which is designed to be extendable has, for example, substantially the shape of a portion of a hollow sphere, in particular a quarter of a hollow sphere, or the shape of a half tube, which is possibly bent.

Two deflection elements which are extendably mounted are particularly preferably provided, each being extendable between a first position in which the deflection element is integrated at least partially in the housing and a second position in which the deflection element may deflect the shavings ejection relative to the housing towards one respective side. If two extendable deflection elements are provided, they are attached, in particular, to both sides of the aperture of the guide channel. According to which side of the housing the shavings ejection is intended to take place, a choice is made between one of the two deflection elements.

The at least one deflection element which is extendably fastened to the housing may, for example, be extended along the longitudinal axis of the housing. In this connection, the at least one deflection element is, for example, a semi-tubular component which is bent or angled. In the first position, the deflection element is arranged substantially inside the housing and causes no deflection of the shavings ejection. If the deflection element is extended from its first position into the second position, the shavings ejection is deflected towards one of the two sides relative to the housing, according to which direction the deflection element is bent or angled. Alternatively, the at least one deflection element, which is configured to be extendable, is also moved along an axis which is located at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the housing of the hand-held power tool. Additionally in this alternative embodiment, the extended deflection element deflects the shavings towards one of the two sides. The deflection element may also be bent or angled, but may also be designed to be substantially straight, as the deflection element is withdrawn obliquely from the housing. By the arrangement of the deflection element at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the housing, a deflection is provided towards the one or the other side.

The hand-held power tool according to the invention is, in particular, a hand-held planing machine, for example for The invention is described hereinafter in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a plan view of a hand-held planing machine with a deflection element in a first embodiment Figure 2 is an oblique view of the rear end of the hand-held planing machine according to Figure 1 Figure 3 is a plan view of a rear region of a hand-held planing machine with a deflection element in a second embodiment.

Figure 1 represents a plan view of an embodiment of a hand-held planing machine 100, essential components being visible within the housing 10. The hand-held planing machine 100 comprises a housing 10 with a rotary switch 23 for adjusting the shavings depth in the front region lOa of the hand-held planing machine 100. A working region 11 is also located in the front region lOa of the hand-held planing machine 100. A cylindrical blade shaft (not shown) is arranged in the working region 11 for removing shavings consisting, in particular, of a wood-like material, which is driven via a driving belt (not shown) of an electric motor 13 of the hand-held planing machine. By means of a blower unit (not shown) a current of air is generated which removes the shavings and/or abrasive particles from the working region 11 via the guide channel 14. The blower unit may, for eamp1e, be configured as a cross-flow fan, the rotary movement of the blade shaft being transferred to the blower unit by means of a transmission element (not shown).

The blower unit is driven via a transmission element about a rotational axis extending parallel to a rotational axis of the blade shaft. The rotational axis of the blower unit extends perpendicular to a current of air guided in the guide channel 14. The guide channel 14 is curved over the electric motor 13 arranged transversely to the guide channel 14.

Shavings and/or abrasive particles are removed from the working region 11 in a guide channel 14 into a rear region lOb of the hand-held planing machine 100. The guide channel 14 extends from the working region 11 along the length of the hand-held planing machine 100 and opens out to the rear, so that the open end 15 of the guide channel 14 is arranged to remove the shavings in the rear region lOb of the housing 10.

In the embodiment according to Figure 1, two deflection elements 21 are provided at the rear end lOb of the housing 10, each deflection element 21 allowing a deflection towards one of the two sides (indicated by the arrows indicated by lOc and lOd) relative to the housing 10. The deflection direction is thus adjustable and allows the shavings and/or abrasive particles to be ejected selectively towards one side or the other side relative to the housing 10. The deflection elements 21 are movable relative to the housing, by being designed to be -extendable. In Figure 1, the two deflection elements 21 are arranged in the region of the aperture 15 of the guide channel 14, the two deflection elements 21 according to Figure 1 being located in a first position substantially inside the housing 10. In the situation shown in Figure 1, there is no deflection of the shavings ejection. In order to deflect the shavings towards one of the two sides, one of the deflection elements 21, as shown in Figure 2, is extended. One of the deflection elements 21 is located in Figure 2 in a second extended position, with a deflection direction towards one side relative to the housing 10. In this connection, the extended deflection element 21 is partially curved over the aperture 15 of the guide channel 14 in a shell-shaped manner and thus allows the deflection into the direction indicated in Figure 2 by the arrow denoted by lOc.

Figure 3 shows diagrammatically an alternative embodiment of a deflection element 22. The deflection element 22 is also arranged at the rear end lOb of the housing 10 of the hand-held planing machine 100, and namely in the region of the aperture 15 of the guide channel 14. The deflection element 22 is also designed to be movable relative to the housing 10. In contrast to the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, the deflection element 22 is, however, configured to be pivotable. The deflection element 22 is pivotable relative to a vertical axis of the housing 10 between a first position with a deflection direction towards one side (indicated by the arrow denoted by lOc) and a second position with a deflection direction towards the other side (indicated by the arrow denoted by lOd). The vertical axis is indicated in Figure 2 by the point denoted by 24. In the embodiment according to Figure 2, accordingly, only one deflection element 22 is provided which may be moved to and fro between two positions. This is indicated in Figure 2 by one of the two positions of the deflection element 22 and the deflection direction, indicated by the arrow 1Cc, being shown in dotted lines.
