Abstract

A golf club comprises a shaft and a head. The striking face of the club is in line with the shaft. The head is circular in shape, and may have a concave or flat striking face.

Description

<p>GOLF CLUB</p>
<p>This invention relates to a golf club with the striking face in line with the centerline of the club shaft, as opposed to a conventional club with the face offset to the centerline of the shaft.</p>
<p>When a golfer strikes the ball with a conventional club, the ball o en hooks or slices. This can be caused by the shaft twisting on impact with the ball and hitting the ball in an undesired direction.</p>
<p>To alleviate this problem, the proposed invention describes a golf club with a striking face on the centerline of the club shaft.</p>
<p>When the ball is struck, there are no side or twisting forces to create the ball to be driven other than in a straight line.</p>
<p>The club may have a round face with a concave area, this will center the ball exactly in line with the shaft.</p>
<p>Conventional materials of construction would be required for the proposed golf club. Either carbon steel, or graphite shaft could be employed for the shaft. The club head could be manufactured from titanium, stainleSS steel, high tensile aluminium, or similar material. Methods of manufacture wQuId be employed to suit the material, which could be precision forging, die casting, pressure die casting, or CNC machining.</p>
<p>The golf club described will ensure that when a golfer hits the ball the striking force is directly in line with the shaft centerline and the ball/club face impact is the maximum possible.</p>
<p>The creation of twist is entirely eliminated.</p>
<p>The face of the club may be circular and may have a concave face, which will center the ball on impact for maximum accuracy.</p>
<p>The face may be circular which will also reduce the amount of divot, which will again increase impact speed.</p>
<p>Figure 1 describes existing golf club design. I shows the shaft which on impact with the ball will twist the face 2, where arrows 3 and 4 show the deflection which causes the inaccuracy on hitting.</p>
<p>Figure 2 describes the proposed invention showing eliminated torque. 5 shows the proposed club head and arrows 6 show the direction when hitting.</p>
<p>Figure 3 describes the proposed club with a concave face, 7 centralising the golf ball.</p>
<p>Figure 4 describes the proposed club in the used position showing the circular face. The faces being round will reduce the amount of "divot" taken, which increases the impact energy. 8 shows the circular front face of the club describing the minimum contact area with the ground due to the circular face.</p>

    <p>3. A golf club according to claim 2 with a circular striking face.</p>
    <p>4. A golf club according to claim 2 with a flat striking face.</p>
    <p>5. A golf club according to claim I where the striking face is angled to achieve various distances.</p>
