Abstract

A transverse flow wind turbine mounted on the ridge of a roof with wind guiding means to direct the wind flow onto the turbine. The wind coming from one direction being guided by wind traps to the upper side of the turbine and the wind from the opposite direction being guided by wind traps to the lower side of the turbine. There may be a series of turbines along the roof ridge.

Description

1 2431696 Wind Turbine The object of the invention is to use as much of
the surtace of the roof as possible to provide a source of electrical power, by running a long linear turbine along and above the roof ridge that turns an electrical generator at one end.

A prefaced embodiment of this invention will now be described with reference to figures 1 to 6 Fig 1/55 Plan Fig 2/5 Cross section at A in Plan Fig 3/5 Cross Section at B on Plan Fig 4/5 Plan of roof of the devise only Fig 5/5 Elevation from one side A Fig 6/5 Elevation from the other side B The device is a series of turbines on a rod that runs along and above the ridge of the roof and turns an electrical generator situated at one end or situated within the building. The wind is directed by wind traps that direct the wind over or under the turbines according to which side the wind os coming from. See Fig 1 which also shows a number of small black discs that indicate the points of fixing to the roof and provide a stability that is often a problem in other wind generators.

Claims (1)

 1.
CLAIM

A series of wind turbines on a rod along the ridge of a roof which uses wind traps to catch the wind off the whole of the root and is very stable, and is visually sympathetic to the building.

Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows A roof mounted transverse axis wind turbine comprising a plurality of rotor sections arranged sequentially along the turbine axis, the turbine further comprising a plurality of wind guiding devices arranged sequentially and on alternate sides of the turbine axis, alternate devices receiving wind from opposing directions and each guiding the wind onto a different one of the rotor sections.

2 A transverse axis wind turbine according to claimi, wherein the whole of the wind from one side of the roof is directed to only half the rotor sections. Pt
