Abstract

A device for assisting with the installation of doors such as fire doors comprises uprights A carrying suction cups K and angle iron W for supporting the lower surface of a door, the angle iron being attached to lifting brackets U which may be raised or lowered to adjust the door position vertically by means of winding mechanisms I employing threaded rods within uprights A. Rack and pinion B, L may be used to adjust the door position laterally. An outrigger E may be provided to stabilise the device and wheels C, handle G and brakes H, 1 to manoeuvre the device. A shelf R and holster S may be used to carry tools and fasteners to hang the door.

FIRE DOOR HANGER
This invention relates to a device for hanging fire door's.
hanging door's by the usual method can be labourious and time consuming. For example you have to carry the heavy door to the frame opening, lift it, hold it upright, adjust it to fit the hinge recess, if you dont set it right first time, it becomes difficult, mainly Because of the weight of the door. Weight of fire door is roughly 60 kilos and more, depending on fire rating. The present invention proposes a device to carry the door to the door opening. The device has a raising and tilting mechanism, which does away with the constant adjustment of wedges under/Neath.
The device also has a stabilising out rigger, which prevent's door from failing over while being hung. The device also has braked wheel's to allow easy control of buggy.
In figure 1 the device is shown fully assembled.
The two upright members (A) contain within a steel stud (Y) to facilitate raising, lowering, and tilting, movement's. The stabilising outrigger (E) prevent's door from falling over, while being hung. the position of the castor wheel's can be altered to allow for proper balance, by pushing through the (T) junction on the outrigger end.
The stabiliser is also capable of being withdrawn from mainframe and positioned on other side of mainframe, there is a locking nut (P) to hold device in place.
When the outrigger is not attached to its working position (0) it can be stored in position (N). The bottom of the buggy has a steel angle iron (W) attached to hold door and midway up the frame is a pair of suction cups (K) to hold door onto frame, suction cups (K) moves in a semi circular channell in part (J). The top edge of angle iron (W) has a slot to allow inclusion of the lifting bracket (U) and at the bottom of the angle iron (W) are slots to allow lifting brackets (U) to be lowered fully to allow for maximum door gap at bottom.
The bottom part of the angle iron (W) has a slot cut into it to allow the lifting bracket (U) to sit flush within. Thus allowing maximum door gap when hung.
Incorporated into the main frame is a rack and pinion system (L) and (B) which allows'the door to be moved from side to side, the rack and pinion system (B) holds, the main wheel axle (D).
Rack and pinion is steered by handle (Q).
Midway up the frame is a shelf (R) which holds screws, and on the side of the shelf is a holster which hold's battery screwdriver and incorporated is a strap which hold's screwdriver /drill in place while buggy is on the move.
The pushing and pulling handle (G) has Brake Levers (H) attached to control buggy while carrying door.
On top of the upright member's (A) a winding handle (I) to adjust door.
The stabilising outrigger (E) has a swivel wheel with brake (1). This allow's easy manoeuvre of the device.
The space between wheel and ground can be adjusted by sliding part 2 up or down and locking in place by a knob 3. The brake on the wheel prevent's, to much side movement once the Buggy is manoeuvred into position.
The main frame is fixed with solid tires, and the whole device is made from Aluminium tubular construction. However there are some other material used in the construction, weight of the device is kept to a minimum.
Figure 9 shows winding mechanism for raising, lowering, and used individually will cause door to be tiled in or out toward's door frame. Most of the frame components are welded together.
Figure 10 show's alternative winding mechanism.
Figure 11 show's the construction method employed in the outrigger T junction.
Figure 12 shows the section of(E) with a square section bar welded to one side which slides along groove cut into the Tjunction of outrigger, this configuration prevent's part (E) from twisting.
Figure 13 shows section of the T junction in which the wheels can be slewed in or out.
Figure (7) shows the method of construction of the lifting bracket's, a treaded rod is inserted into part (X) and then into part (V) then into another screw (X) then it is inserted into a thick washer which is welded onto and below part (A) then another washer is welded to the very end of the stud (treaded rod) which prevent's the stud from being lifted out of part (A) when the turning handle (I) is being turned.
Part (X) is welded in place onto part (V) which allow's part (Y) to be inserted through part (V).
