Abstract

The "6-in-1" duvet is a more versatile variation of the widely available "3-in-1" duvet, giving three additional, unique combinations which each involve one side of the duvet having a different tog from the other. Two users of a double duvet may therefore each select their preferred tog, whatever the season, without forcing the other person to use the same tog. Neither person needs be too hot or too cold. The "6-in-1" duvet consists of a base duvet A, plus four additional duvets B1, B2, C1, C2, each of which is half the size of the base duvet A. The smaller duvets B1, B2, C1, C2 are releasably fastened to the base duvet A e.g. with buttons or poppers. It is therefore possible to alter the warmth provided by each half of the duvet.

Description

"6-in-i" Duvet Widely available, the "3-in-I" duvet is actually two duvets
of different togs (usually 4.5 tog and 9.0 tog) that can be used independently or fastened together, e.g. with buttons or poppers, depending on the season. In the coolest months both duvets (13.5 tog) are generally used, in spring and autumn the higher tog (9.0 tog) and in summer the lower tog duvet (4.5 tog).
However, the drawback with the "3-in-i" duvet is that often there are two people using the duvet at the same time (especially in the case of double duvets or larger), and agreement has to be reached between the two people as to which duvet to use (the thinner duvet, the thicker duvet, or both duvets fastened together). Often ths leads to a situation where one person is too cold or too hot, and has to suffer an uncomfortable night's sleep as a result.
The subject of this pateni, the "6-in-i" duvet, solves the drawback outlined above, thus allowing each person to select his or her preferred tog, whatever the season, without forcing the other person to use the same tog. Neither person needs be too hot or too cold. This is not possible with existing "3-in-I" duvets.
"3-in-l" duvets provide the owners with three combinations (see opening paragraph). Each of these combinations forces two people sharing the duvet to use the same tog.
The "6-in-I" duvet, gives three additional, unique combinations. Each additional, unique combination involves one side of the duvet having a different tog from the other.
Example:
For the purposes of this example, it is assumed that the possible togs are 4.5,9.0 and 13.5; in which case the three additional, unique combinations that the 6-in- I duvet provides would be: i) One side 4.5 tog and the other side 9.0 tog ii) One side 4.5 tog and the other side 13. 5 tog iii) One side 9.0 tog and the other side 13.5 tog It is important to note that these combinations are simply not possible with "3-in-I" duveis.
The "6-in-i" duvet consists of a "base" duvet, plus 4 additional duvets, each of which is half the size of the base duvet. All five duvets may be of similar tog. For the purposes of any examples, all the duvets are assumed to be 4.5 tog.
The smaller duvets are fastened to the base duvet in the manner that existing "3-in-I" duvets are fastened together, e.g. with buttons or poppers.
Fig 1 depicts an exploded view of the complete "6-in-i" duvet set.
In Fig 1 the "base" duvet is labelled with the letter A, and the 4 smaller duvets, are labelled with B I, B2, Cl and C2. There are fasteners on the top and bottom of A, on the bottom ofBl and B2, and on the top ofCi and C2.
The bottom ofBl and B2 can fastened to the top of A. The top ofCI and C2 can be fastened to the bottom of A. B1, B2, Cl and C2 can be fastened to A in any combination (there are five unique combinations). The base on it's own provides the sixth combination, hence the name "6-in- I".
Fig 2 depicts a cross sectional view of all six possible combinations, and their respective total togs.
The examples in Fig 2 assume that each duvet is 4.5 tog. Each combination in Fig 2 is labelled with the potential duvets used (A, BI, B2, CI, C2), and is preceded with a description of the tog combination. In Fig 2, i), ii) and iii) depict the unique combinations only possible with the "6-ini". The last three, iv), v) and vi) are shown for completeness.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims * The "6-in-i" duvet provides all the options that existing
"3-in.!" duvets provide, plus crucially, it provides three additional, unique combinations, not possible with existing "3-in-I" duvets.
    * Each of the three, additional, unique combinations of the "6-in.! "duvet involves one side of the duvet having a different tog from the other, so two people sharing the duvet do not have to have the same tog on their respective sides of the duvet.
