Abstract
A shower system comprising a shower head 11, flexible supply pipe and a mixing chamber 12 which holds a washing aid 13. Water passes through the mixing chamber, mixes with the washing aid before leaving the shower head and over the user. The mixing chamber 13 may be incorporated into the shower head 11 or in housing that may be connected directly into a flexible or fixed pipe (Fig 3), which then feeds the water to a conventional shower head. The washing aid 13 may be in the form of a liquid, solid or gel soaps, surfactants, detergents, or body washes that dissolve in water for a reasonably predictable span of time. The washing aid may incorporate perfumes, fragrances or oils for example. The washing aid may have various ingredients encapsulated or formulated in a medium that allow each ingredient to be dissolved at different times.
Description
SHOWER WASHING-AIDS DISPENSING SYSTEM.
This invention relates to a Shower Washing-aids Dispensing System.
PREAMBLE: "Washing-aids" by way of Soaps, Surfactants,Detergents, Wetting agents, Body Washes, Lotions or Mousses, all with or without perfumes or fragrances, are widely used to enhance the washing action of the water and I or to impart a washing, foaming, moisturising, invigorating or calming action; and I or to impart a selectable fragrance to the user, when taking a shower.
Conventional showering involves the pre-wetting of the skin, followed by the external application of the "washing-aid", followed by rinsing in the clear water flow.
According to the present invention, there is provided means to allow a quantity of a "washing-aid" in a suitable form, having a predictable span of usable time, to be directly introduced into the water by the user.
The preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIGURE 1: shows the cross-section of a hand-held shower head, having a connector suitable to mate with flexible piping and having a mixing chamber, into which the user can insert a quantity of the "washing aid".
OPERATION: The water enters the shower-head (11) via the connector (10) and enters the mixing chamber (12) where it dissolves the "washing aid" (13) and exits through the shower jets (14) to be directly available to the user.
Access to the mixing chamber (12) allowing insertion of the "washing- aid" (13) could be made by means of a bayonet fitting, screwthreaded fitting, sliding, hinged, swivelling twisting or press fitting arrangement, or other suitable means, not shown here in detail.
The "washing-aid"(13) could be inserted into the mixing chamber (12) in any suitable form, such as a liquid or gel in a dispenser or as a suitably moulded slow dissolving solid, such that the incoming water dissolves the "washing-aid" and produces the ready mixed solution.
FIGURE 2: shows an alternative system with all the above described features as in Figure 1, but with the whole contained within a shower head, supplied with a connector to mate directly to fixed pipework.
OPERATION: The water enters the shower-head (21) via the connector (20) ard enters the mixing chamber (22) where it dissolves the "washing aid" (23) and exits through the shower jets (24) to be directly available to the user.
FIGURE 3: shows an alternative system identical in operation to those described in Figures 1 and 2 above, but where the housing is supplied with two connectors and in versions suitable to connect directly into either a flexible shower pipe or into fixed pipework, which then feeds the water to a conventional shower head.
OPERATION: The water enters the housing (31) via connector (30) and enters the mixing chamber (32) where it dissolves the "washing aid" (33) and exits through the connector (35) to travel as a mixture up the pipework to a conventional shower head, to be available to the user.
Claims (1)
- L-CLAIMS.CLAIM 1: A shower "washing-aid" dispensing system comprising a movable shower head connectable to a flexible pipe and having an internal mixing chamber incorporating means of externally inserting a quantity of "washing-aid" (as described in above preamble) and producing a ready mixed solution of "washing aid" at the shower head jets.CLAIM 2: A shower "washing-aid dispensing system as in Claim 1 above incorporating all the features of Claim 1 but all contained within a housing of a shower head designed to mate with fixed pipework.CLAIM 3: A shower "washing aid" dispensing system as in either Claims 1 or 2 above incorporating all the features of Claims 1 and 2 but all contained within a housing having two connectors designed to be fitted into either a flexible or fixed pipework system.CLAIM 4: A shower washing-aid dispensing system as in Claims 1, 2 and 3 above, with a "washing aid" supplied in a liquid, gel, semi-solid, solid, or other suitable form and containing soaps, surfactants, deter- gents, body washes, lotions, mousses, or other substances, such that it will dissolve in the water and enhance the washing action of the water for a reasonably predictable span of time and in a ready to use' form for the user of the shower.CLAIM 5: A shower "washing aid" as in Claim 4 above, with the add- -ition of perfumes, fragrances, essences, extracts or other substances to impart a desired fragrance to the user of the shower.CLAIM 6: A shower "washing aid" as in Claims 4 and 5 above with the addition of fragrances, essences, lotions, extracts, oils or other sub-stances to impart a washing, foaming, moisturising, invigorating or calming action to the user of the shower.CLAIM 7: A shower "washing aid" as in Claims 4, 5 and 6 above where the various different ingredients, for example, a foaming body wash is encapsulated or formulated in a medium such that it dissolves at a faster rate than, for example, a fragrance, which is encapsulated or formulated in a slower dissolving medium, both, or more mediums are combined within one overall dispenser or dispensing block, such that the action of the water is to dissolve the various components in a sequential manner, such that the various actions of the various components are performed in a defined sequence of events; for example, the foam- -ing body wash dissolves first, to impart a washing action to the user and, after a reasonable span of time the body wash becomes exhausted and the fragrance begins to dissolve, for a reasonable period of time, until it becomes exhausted and the user can then rinse as required and terminate the showering.
