Abstract

A shower head unit (1) is described, the said unit comprising a spray nozzle (2) with grille (2g) connected to a pipe section (3) from which water emerges, in which a compartment (4) through which the said water flows and which is designed to contain inside it a predefined quantity of a water-soluble substance (15) is located between the said pipe section (3) and the said grille (2g).

Description

SHOWER HEAD CONTAINING A DOSE OF WATER-SOLUBLE
SUBSTANCE
The present invention relates to the area of sanitary/hygiene installations and, more particularly, to the sector thereof relating to installations which have a head comprising a shower spray nozzle connected to a (rigid or flexible) pipe from which the water emerges and having precisely the function of spraying the body with a plurality of small jets emerging from a grille mounted on the outflow hole of the abovementioned spray nozzle.
The inventors of the present invention have considered that it would be very advantageous for everyone, and in particular for children and old people, if it were possible for a shower head to emit water already containing, dissolved therein, a cleaning substance such as soap or shampoo or another substance with a softening, aromatising, disinfecting or other kind of action.
This would avoid the need to spread the said substances over the body, would ensure more uniform mixing in the water and would make the act of taking a shower more enjoyable and relaxing. In order to achieve this result, the inventors have envisaged forming, in the spray nozzle of a shower head, a compartment designed to contain inside it a predefined dose of a desired water-soluble substance from among the group of substances listed above, so that the water, passing through the said spray nozzle, removes a desired quantity thereof and then emerges from the said spray nozzle uniformly mixed with the said substance before reaching the user's body.
The subject of the present invention, which is novel as far as the inventors are aware, in fact relates to a shower head as described in the preamble of the attached Claim 1, characterized by that stated in the characterizing part of the same claim. Hereinbelow, two preferred examples of embodiment of a shower head, according to the invention, which must not be regarded as limiting or binding with regard to other possible embodiments which can be obtained on the basis of the teachings contained in the aforementioned Claim 1, will be described in greater detail.
In the abovementioned description reference will also be made to the attached drawings, which show: - in Fig. 1 a schematic, longitudinally sectioned representation of an example of embodiment of the shower head according to the invention in which a dose of a water-soluble substance is contained in a small drawer which is inserted into a compartment formed in the spray nozzle;
- in Fig. 2 a side view of solely the small drawer according to Fig. 1;
- in Fig. 3 a schematic, longitudinally sectioned representation of another example of embodiment of the shower head according to the invention in which a dose of a water-soluble substance in the solid state is replaced by a support contained in a compartment formed in the spray nozzle and provided with a hatch for introducing the dose. If we consider firstly Figs. 1 and 2 it can be seen therein how, in the shower head 1 according to the invention, a shower spray nozzle 2, which is connected to a pipe 3 from which the water is supplied, comprises, located between the pipe 3 itself and its grille 2g for outflow of the water, a compartment 4 into which a small extractable drawer 5 containing, inside it, a dose 15 of a water-soluble substance can be inserted transversely. This drawer 5 may be filled with the said dose 15 of a substance in the liquid or in any case fluid state before taking a shower or may even form the container of the said dose 15 which is made from synthetic materials and is suitably shaped and which may also be thrown away after the substance contained inside it has been used up. Fig. 3, en the other hand, shows another embodiment in which the said compartment 4, formed in the spray nozzle 2 in a manner entirely similar to the previous example, contains inside it a concave support 6, inside the cavity of which a dose 7 of a water- soluble substance in the solid state may be placed, the said substance being introduced into the compartment 4 through a hatch 12 which can be hermetically closed.
By suitably positioning the support 6 and if necessary also inserting a flow-deviating baffle 10 as shown, the water, flowing through the spray nozzle 2, may be made to lift up and rotate the said dose 7, causing gradual dissolving thereof.
In order to obtain even better mixing of the substance forming a dose and produce a jet which is softer and more foamy, the inventors have envisaged installing two impellers 8, 9 - one 8 upstream and the other 9 downstream of the said compartment 4 in both the examples described - designed to rotate owing to the effect of the water flow and consequently create a greater turbulence useful for achieving the effects mentioned above .
In the examples shown in Figures 1 and 2, these impellers 8, 9 are installed with their axis oriented in the direction of the water flow and with the blades arranged perpendicularly.
The examples described hitherto relate to fixed shower heads 1, 11, namely with the said pipe 3 of the rigid type. It is obvious that, by suitably modifying the form and the position of both the compartment 4 and the support 6 or the extractable drawer 5, it is possible to obtain the same results also for shower heads connected to flexible pipes (these examples have not been shown in the drawings since they may be imagined in an obvious and immediate manner by a person skilled in the art) .
The abovementioned substances may be of various types: for example cleaning, perfumed, aromatising, softening, disinfectant, colourless or coloured substances, etc., may be used.
In any case, the use of a shower head 1, 11 according to the invention allows a more efficient, more convenient and more enjoyable application and use thereof.
