Abstract
A pneumatically operated spray gun 10 for operation at a workstation 12 by means of a flexible tube connection has a gun housing 15, to which a spray medium container 16 is releasably attached, as well as a handle 17 and an actuating element 18. On one part of the spray gun 10 there is disposed one of two latching elements 19, 22, which together form a latching fastener 21, by means of which the spray gun 10, when not in use, is mountable on a supporting surface 24. The one latching element 19 is advantageously disposed on the base 20 of the spray medium container 16. In one embodiment the latching fastener 21 allows the spray gun 10, when not in use, to be deposited on the workstation 12 in a tilt-free manner.
Description
Pneumatically operated spray gun
Background art
The invention proceeds from a pneumatically operated spray gun of the type defined in the preamble of claim 1.
With such spray guns, which are supplied for example by an air compressor, e.g. an HVLP (high-volume low-pressure) compressor, the spray gun, when not in use, e.g. during work breaks, has to be able to be put down in a safe and stable manner. This is achievable only to a qualified extent when the spray pistol is inserted by its handle into a holder of the workstation that comprises a recess in the housing. This in turn proves problematical because it is then no longer possible to grasp the spray gun by its handle since a substantial length of the handle engages into the holder.
"dvantageS of the invention The pneumatically operated spray gun according to the invention having the features of claim 1 has the advantage that using simple means and in an easy, operationally reliable manner the spray gun, when not in use, may be deposited safely e.g. on the workstation, wherein by means of the latching fastener a secure, topple-free mounting for the spray gun is guaranteed.
Advantageous developments and improvements of the pneumatically operated spray gun indicated in claim 1 are possible by virtue of the measures outlined in the further claims.
Drawings The invention is described in detail below with reference to an embodiment that is represented in the drawings. The drawings show: Fig. 1 a diagrammatic side view of a pneumatically operated spray gun together with part of a workstation, Fig. 2 a diagrammatic perspective view of the workstation for the spray gun, to which connected.
Description of the embodiment
A spray gun 10 is shown diagrammatically in the drawings and is connectable by a flexible tube 11 detachably to a merely diagrammatically indicated workstation 12, by means of which the spray gun 10 is operable with compressed air.
The workstation 12 in a special configuration is formed from a suck-andblow station 13, which supplies either compressed air, e.g. for operation of the spray gun 10, or suction air that is required e.g. for another tool 14, which is connected to the flexible tube 11 and which in the illustrated embodiment consists of a sander 34 but may instead be any other tool that is operated with suction air or instead, like the spray gun 10, with compressed air.
The spray gun 10 comprises a gun housing 15, to which a spray medium container 16 is removably attached. Alongside and at a distance from the spray medium container 16 a handle 17 is attached to the gun housing 15. Situated between this handle 17 and the spray medium container 16 is an actuating element 18 e.g. in the form of a lever.
On one of the parts of the spray gun 10, i.e. generally on the gun housing 15 and/or handle 17 and/or spray medium container 16, a latching element 19 is disposed. In the illustrated embodiment, this one latching element 19 in a special configuration is disposed on the spray medium container 16, namely on the underside of the base 20 thereof. The arrangement of the latching element 19 may however alternatively be effected at a different point of in particular the spray medium container 16. This one latching element 19 is a latching partner of a latching fastener 21. This one latching element 19 may take diverse forms depending on the configuration of the latching fastener 21, which may be e.g. a magnetic fastener, adhesive fastener or, in a particularly advantageous configuration, a Velcro fastener. A latching fastener 21 configured in this manner requires a second latching element 22, which interacts with the latching element 19 and which in the illustrated embodiment is disposed on an upper face 23, e.g. a lid, of the workstation 12, wherein this upper face 23 is suitable as a supporting surface 24, on which the spray gun 10 may be deposited during work breaks. In this configuration, therefore, the spray gun 10 during work breaks is mountable by means of the latching fastener 21, in particular Velcro fastener, on the In an advantageous manner, the base 20 of the spray medium container 16 is provided at the underside with a substantially flat standing surface 25, which may be placed onto an associated supporting surface 24, e.g. of the workstation 12, and stand securely thereon. The flat- surfaced configuration of both the standing surface 25 and the supporting surface 24 leads in turn to a flat-surfaced configuration for the mutually interacting latching elements 19 and 22 situated thereon, which allows the spray gun 10 when not in use to be put down in a stable position and guarantees that the spray gun 10 is then held steady and prevented from wobbling or falling over. This is guaranteed also by the fact that the base 20 of the spray medium container 16 is the part of the spray gun 10 that projects furthest in a downward direction. The handle 17 does not extend as far as the base 20 but terminates at a distance above it.
Given the configuration of the latching fastener 21 as a Velcro fastener, the one latching partner thereof comprises burr hooks and the other latching partner comprises velour.
It is then particularly advantageous when the latching partner comprising the burr hooks is disposed on the base 20 of the spray medium container 16 and forms the latching element 19 there, while the other latching partner comprising the velour is disposed on the upper face 23 of the workstation 12 and forms the second latching element 22 there. It is nevertheless self-evident that the relationships may alternatively be reversed in such a way that the latching partner comprising the burr hooks is disposed on the upper face 23 of the workstation 12 and the other latching partner comprising the velour is disposed on the base 20 of the spray medium container 16.
The burr hooks and/or the velour may be in each case part of a respective woven or knitted fabric or the like serving as a backing material, which is then fastened as latching element 19 and/or 22 by gluing to the part of the spray gun 10, in particular to the spray medium container 16, and/or to the supporting surface 24 of the workstation 12.
In this case, therefore, the one latching element 19 is fastened by the adhesive fastening detachably to the spray medium container 16. In an identical manner, the latching element 22 is likewise fastened by the adhesive connection detachably to the upper face 23 of the workstation 12.
Iilternatively, in the case of the latching partners of the latching fastener 21 in the form of a Velcro fastener, there is also the possibility of providing these respective latching partners by injection moulding. In this case, the latching partner comprising the burr hooks and/or the other latching partner comprising velour may be injectionmoulded onto the appropriate part of the spray gun 10, e.g. the spray medium container 16, and/or onto the upper face 23, in particular the supporting surface 24, of the workstation 12. This is advantageously possible particularly when the respective surfaces, in particular the standing surface 25 and/or the supporting surface 24, are made of plastics material.
As is evident in particular from Fig. 2, on the upper face 23, e.g. a lid, of the workstation 12 a latching element 22 is disposed over a large area. When the spray gun 10 is not in use, it may be positioned by the spray medium container 16 securely onto the supporting surface 24 provided with the latching element 22. The latching fastener 21 guarantees a stable support. When the spray gun 10 is to be used again, it may, by being detached in the region of the latching fastener 21, easily be separated and lifted off the upper face 23 of the workstation 12.
At the same time, it is advantageous that the second latching element 22 disposed on the upper face 23 of the workstation 12 may additionally be used as a stable place to deposit or lay down other tools 14 besides the spray gun 10, e.g. the sander 34, provided that this tool 14, as is the case with the tool 14 in the form of a sander, at the underside has a corresponding latching partner analogous to the latching element 19 of the spray gun 10 that, together with the latching element 22 of the workstation 12, may form a latching fastener 21. In the case of a tool 14 in the form of sander 34, such a condition is met because the sander at the underside has a sanding disk, which at its underside is provided with a latching element 19 analogous to that on the base 20 of the spray gun 10.
