Abstract

A water saving system wherein water from a sanitary appliance such as a sink (5C,5D), bath (5A,5B), or shower (9) is passed to a container (1) and then, suitably, to a cistern (10A, 10B) used for flushing a toilet. A series of automatic or manually-operated valves is used to control the flow of water through the system.

Description

Description.
System for Saving Treated Water When ever hot water is called for by an appliance before the water is warm enough to use a large amount is wasted down the drain (cold run to warm) This treated water could be sufficient to service the toilets, so my system would re-route this treated water by means of two way valves 5A.B.C.D on drawings lof 2, 2of 2.
numbers index list by a secondary feed pipe 2 to header tank I then down feed pipe 3 to toilets I OA.B.
The tank would have an emergency main feed pipe 6. For low levels and an overflow pipe 13.
The header tank or storage container would be sized, designed and positioned to best advantage, even adjacent or inside the toilet cisterns The two way valves 5.A.B.C.D. could be operated by a simple manual lever or an automatic system i.e. water pressure/timer/thermostat/spring solenoid. Also if the two way valve 5A.B.C.D. is positioned in the pipe 4 close to the boiler it could be controlled by the boiler controls.
The layout and design in the accompanied drawings 1 of 2, 2of 2 and the index list is just an example of how it could be operated, but the same result could be gained by other designs, also other uses for the saved water could be found..
Index No's on Drawings.

13 Over flow pipe When ever hot water is called for by an appliance before the water is warm enough to use a large amount is wasted down the drain. (cold run to warm) This treated water could be sufficient to service the toilets.
So my system would reroute this treated water by a two way valve 5A on drawings 1> 2 by a secondary feedpipe 2 to header tank I then down feedpipe 3 to toilets I OAB The tank would have an emergency main feedpipe 6 for low level and an overflow pipe 13.
The two way valve 5 could be operated by a simple lever or an automatic system i.e. water pressure/timer/thermastat/springsolenojd.
1) If the two way valve 5 is positioned on pipe 4 close to the boiler it could be controlled by the boiler controls,

Claims (5)

  1. Claims Claim I. A system for saving treated water allowing the cold run to
warm water to be stored in a container and re-used.
  2. Claim 2.
A system according to claim 1 in which a means of re-routing the cold run to warm water is by way of an automatic valve.
  3. Claim 3.
A system according to claim 2 in which the means of re-routing the. cold run to warm water by way of a valve with manual control.
  4. Claim 4.
A system according to any of the preceding claims where the cold run to warm water is stored in a container with the levels controlled by means well known to the trade, to be used to service the toilets or any other types of appropriate appliances.
  5. Claim 5.
A system according to claim 4 where the cold run to warm water is stored in a container in or adjacent to the toilet cisterns.
