Abstract

A watertight container ie, tank, designed for use in a domestic situation, into which rainwater and waste bath and shower water is collected. The water is then stored ready to be pumped by means of an electric motor combined impeller, to either toilet cistern/s and or a hose pipe connected by a push on attachment in the motor housing. Overflowing is controlled by an outlet near the top of the tank which is connected to a main drain. A minimum level of water is controlled by a ballvalve set near the bottom of the tank, fed by mains water. The tank is stored underground with only maintainance lids visible on new dwellings and above ground in existing dwellings. The whole tank is foam insulated to protect from frost.

Description

DOMESTIC WATER RECYCLING TANK.
This invention relates to a domestic water recycling tank.
Water is fast becoming a precious commodity and the tank has been developed with this in mind. It is intended for the domestic market where it can collect rain water and domestic "grey water" and be reused to flush the wic and water gardens with the hose connection.
According to the present invention, there is a water storage tank which can vary in size depending on the demand for water.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing with page 2 being and expanded view of the pump housing fig 7.
The tank fig 1, can be stored underground (or above), rainwater is collected via fallpipes and connected to the tank fig 4. Grey waste from the bath and shower is collected in the same way fig 5. A pump housing fig 7 is positioned on the top of the tank and contains, 240v electric pump with impeller fig 6. Water is drawn from the tank by a feed pipe fig 9 when either, A, wic ball valve in the cistem connected at position 11 is open and the pressure switch fig 13 senses the drop and switches on the pump fig 6. 2/. a hose pipe is connected to fig 12 and again the pressure switch fig 13 senses the drop and switches on the pump fig 6. A non return valve fig 10 is fitted to maintain the pipeline pressure. A minimum water level fig 8 is maintained by a mains water feed via a ball valve fig 14. Excessive water and floating debris is removed by an overflow fig 15 connected to mains sewer with an air trap incorporated to prevent sewer smells. The tank lid fig 2 has 2 identical funnels. One is the pump housing fig 7, the other is a tank inspection chamber fig 16. Both lids are sealed and are fixed with screws. The lids are the only items visible from above ground. The overall tank and funnels are foam covered to prevent frost attack.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS.
1/. A watertight container designed to collect and store both rainwater and waste domestic bath and shower water. An electric pump operated by a pressure switch will force stored water along pipework to toilet cisterns where it will be reused for flushing.
2/. A watertight container as claimed in claim 1 wherein pump means a 240v electric motor driven impeller is used.
    31. A watertight container as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein pressure switch means a method of detecting a reduction of pressure to enable the pump to operate.
