Abstract

A table for a garden swing includes a table 9 attached to a support leg 8. The support leg is connected to the garden swing frame at the upper table support pivot 7 and the lower table support pivot 10. When the swing is in motion the table moves in an arc about the upper table support pivot 7.

A TABLE FOR A GARDEN SVV1NG An established traditional design of garden swing has the occupants, two or four, facing each other. The two swinging seat frames are suspended from pivots attached to a supporting frame. A footboard connects the lower end of each seat frame using pivots. The occupants use their feet to propel the swing by applying and releasing pressure to the footboard.
There is no provision or location for food or drink or any other object the occupant may wish to have to hand.
The invention provides a convenient surface for resting drinks containers. The invention makes use of centrifugal force to ensure that items, such as containers full of liquid, are not disturbed by the swinging motion. The table may be fixed height or adjustable height. The table is easily demountable for storage.

Fig Ill shows a side elevation of a garden swing fitted with the table.
The swing seat frames (2) carry the seats (6) and are suspended from the support frame (1) by pivots (3).
The footboard (5) is suspended from the swing seat frame by pivots (4).
The table (9) is attached to a support leg (8).
The support leg is located at the lower end by the lower pivot (10).
The lower pivot consists of a slotted plate which locates on a pin attached to the footboard (5).
The plate is also located in a slot formed in the foothoard. The purpose of this slot is to prevent rotation of the table whilst allowing it to pivot.
The table support leg is located at the top by the upper table support pivot (7) attached to the frame.

Claims (2)

  1. I. A table for a garden swing is attached to a support leg which is connected to a garden swing at pivots at its upper and lower ends so that when the swing is in motion the upper pivot acts as a fulcrum whilst the other end moves back and forth in an arc the centrifugal force generated on the table ensures that objects including liquids in containers are not spilled or upset
  2. 2. A table for a garden swing substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawing
