Abstract

A multi-purpose dustbin 1 consists of a lid that serves as a dustpan (3, Fig. 2) that can be detached from the dustbin. The dustbin is contained within a mop bucket (2, Fig. 4) that is also detachable from the dustbin for simultaneous use. The lid has an integral handle 6, though once detached from the dustbin, a long handle (10, Fig. 3) may be attached to it for convenient use. The mop bucket may contain a mop squeeze (12, Fig. 5) that can be deployed, once detached from the dustbin.

MULTI-PURPOSE DUSTBIN

The invention relates to a dustbin of the type, which is contained within a mop bucket that includes a demountable lid that can be used as a dustpan for space saving storage as a single unit.

Dustbins, mop buckets and dustpans of various designs are in existence as individual items. The disadvantage of these are that they take up space to store as individual items and are not available as single item for space saving convenient, hygienic storage where only a limited floor/storage space is available as in most domestic environments.

The object of this invention is to provide a one convenient detachable unit, which contains a dustbin, a mop bucket and a dustpan.

Essentially, this invention provides a dustbin of which the lower part is shaped with a step- in which allows for the dustbin to be contained within a mop bucket and a lid to perform the function of a dustpan, which is attached to the dustbin via form of hinge that acts as lid, which can be demounted when need to be used as a dustpan. In addition, the mop bucket can also be detached from the dustbin to be used as a mop bucket simultaneously.

The lid has a handle integral of, but once detached from the dustbin, a long stick type handle can also be attached for convenient use.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective, the dustbin with its demountable lid attached, together with its detachable mop bucket.

Figure 2 shows the dustbin lid detached from the Dustbin.

Figure 3 shows the dustbin lid detached from the dustbin, turned over, in the position that is used as a dustpan.

Figure 4 shows a side elevation of the dustbin; mop bucket and the lid as one unit with the lid in open position.

Figure 5 shows the mop bucket detached from dustbin Figure 6 shows the dustbin on its own with its lid in closed position.

In Figure 1 a multi-purpose dustbin I includes a hinge bracket 8, a lifting handle 11, a long handle 10 with a clip 9 complete with lid 3.

Figure 2 shows the lid 3, containing hinge supports 4, a handle 6, dust container means 13, cut out 7 for lifting the lid, and block 5 as a means of attaching the long handle 10.

In Figure 3, shows the lid 3 is now turned over ready to be used as dustpan with the long handle 10 attached to it via block 5.

Figure 4 shows the side elevation of the dustbin 1, mop bucket 2 and lid 3 (in open position), where mop squeezer 12 placed within items I and 2.

Figure 5 shows the side elevation of mop bucket 2 with its mop squeezer attachment 12 fixed to top of mop bucket 2, detached from the dustbin 1.

Figure 6 shows the side elevation of the dustbin I with its lid 3 attached to it in closed position.

Claims

I CLAIMS

1. A multi-purpose dustbin comprising a container with a demountable cover that can be detached from the said container so that the cover can be used as a dustpan whilst a second container within which the said first container is contained, can also be detached from the first container so that the second container may be used as a means cleaning aid.

2. A multi-purpose dustbin according to claim I,in which its cover means when demounted from the container that can be used as a means of collecting in dust.

3. A multi-purpose dustbin according to claim I where the second container is provided, that when detached, may be used as a means of mopping aid.

4. A multi-purpose dustbin substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-6 of the accompanying drawing.

4. A multi-purpose dustbin as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the cover is provided with means of hinges so that it can be opened whilst being used as a lid.

5. A multi-purpose dustbin as in claim I, claim 2 or claim 4, wherein the cover is provided with preferably a long detachable adjustable stick handle that may also remain as a permanent fixture to the cover of the dustbin as an option.

6. A multi-purpose dustbin substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-6 of the accompanying drawing.

Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A multi-purpose dustbin comprising a container with a demouritable cover that can be detached from the said container so that the cover can be used as a dustpan whilst a second container within which the first container is partially contained, can be used as a mop bucket.

2. A multi-purpose dustbin as claimed in preceding claim, wherein the cover is connected to the first container by hinges so that it can be opened whilst being used as a lid.

3. A multi-purpose dustbin as claimed in claim I or claim 2, wherein the dustbin carries an elongate handle for attachment to the dustpan.
