Abstract

A football boot that has a sole that allows the studs at the front of the football boot to move independently of each other. The studs are preferably attached to a segmented plastic/polyutherane sole that are attached to an elasticated layer of the football boot's sole. The elasticated layer stretches under pressure thereby allowing the studs to move preventing strain on the players legs when the studs dig into the ground.

Description

1 2425706
Detailed description:
The upper part of the boot is made from a leather/synthetic material, light and durable, not dissimilar from any other football boot.
The next layer of the boot will again resemb]e most football boots on the market, a foam cushion for padding and comfort.
However the 3rd layer will be a flexible under sole that will be durable, waterproof and yet contain elastic properties. Under pressure it will stretch but quickly retract back to its original shape. The proposed material has not yet been decided. (All above paragraphs are represented in diagram 1) Fitted onto this 3rd layer will be polyutherane/plastic plates (diagram 2) that are required for both stud placement and foot stability.
How it works: Each of the front four studs can move independently from each other, as footballers turn on their toes (almost tip toeing) only the front studs require free movement and do so under pressure.
Example: Consider a footballer turning sharply to their right, as the right boot makes contact with the surface the studs dig in, however now the players' foot continues with momentum, moving freely from the studs. Although the free movement is only for a tiny amount, the absorbed pressure in the sole prevents strain on the players' legs, which would normally cause him/her to stutter forward a few more feet.
Because of the soles elastic capabilities it also means the absorbed pressure is re-used on acceleration as the player almost springs from the turn.
As the sole stretches it also increases contact surface area, this increases grip and again helps to accelerate from the turn.
The theory behind this idea is strengthened by a common practice at greyhound racing. A dog with glued toes doesn't corner as fast the dog with free moving toes.
