Abstract

A device to prevent the climbing of a ladder comprises a length of pliable material 3 which fits between the rails 2 and wraps around a number of rungs 1. The device is secured to itself by the use of eyelets and padlocks or eyelets and rope. The device prevents access to the rungs of a ladder from both the front and the rear. The device may also be used on stepladders and open staircases. When not in use the device may be rolled up upon itself.

Description

Ladderbelt This invention relates to a safety device for ladders,
stepladders, open staircases, or anywhere steps or rungs are used.
One of the major problems with ladders, stepladders or openplan staircases, is unauthorised access. The safe solution that is been proposed is to provide a device that will stop access to the above mentioned. A device that shows this is U.K patent GB 2403 257 A. This device is only secured at the top and bottom on ladder rungs and not on step ladders or staircases, more importantly it does not prevent anyone from gaining access by climbing up the back of the ladder.
The invention, which I present, is directed to overcome this problem, enabling it to be used on stepladders and open plan stairs as well. The invention will be clearly understood from the following description, demonstrated through illustrations submitted.
Figure 1 - is a front view of the invention in place on a ladder.
Figure 2 - is a side view of the invention place on a ladder Figure 3- is a side view of the invention on open plan steps or stairs Figure 4- shows the invention rolled up (Reference numbers for the figures are as follows:- 1/ rung or step, 2/ side rail, 3/ ladderbelt, 4/2 separate ends of invention)

Claims (5)

  1. Claims 1) A safety device for ladders, staircases or steps which can be
rolled up onto itself and when unrolled, it can be placed between the rungs or steps and secured on to itself and not onto the ladder staircase steps. This prevents access to the rungs or steps from the front and rear.
  2. 2) A safety device as claimed in I / where eye lets and padlocks are used to secure the ends of the invention.
  3. 3) A safety device as claimed in 1/ or 2/ where the device is secured to itself by rope or similar through the eyelets.
  4. 4) A safety device as claimed in 1/, 2/, or 3/ and described in figures 1, 2, 3, 4, of the accompanied drawings.
  5. 5) A safety device as claimed in 1/, 2/, 3/, 4/, where by two separate ends of the device are secured together.
