Abstract
A frame, comprising a gun rest portion, may be fitted to the window or door of a vehicle, such as a car. The arrangement comprises a main frame 1, 1a, 2 formed of two angled tubes, in to the ends of which two threaded boss elements 8 are pressed and in to which parts 3, 9 are threaded and locked by element 10. A support member comprising four boss elements 1b is also included. The arrangement provides for a gun rest that can be fully adjusted (in height, width and distance from vehicle) by manipulation of the relevant threaded portions.
Description
GUN REST
SUMMARY-
This gun frame is fitted to the window runners of a vehicle by means of a rubber covered section and is supported by 2 angular units resting between the door contour and the main frame. The angular units are locked in position by a cotter system.
DESCRIPTION-
Mainframe (1, 2 and 1 a on diagram)- The mainframe is constructed from 2 tubes formed into 2 90 degree angles and 2 angles at approximately 15 degrees in the downward direction. These slide onto each other and are secured by a clip, making the mainframe infinitely adjustable for different shaped doors.
In the ends of 1 & 2 are pressed 2 threaded bosses, marked 8 on the diagram, in which parts 9 & 3 are threaded and locked by parts 10, which will twist to any shaped door window runner.
Support Member- This unit is made up of number 4 boss, number lb cotter & nut, a length of tube pressed into number 4 boss. A piece of threaded rod with a plastic damper fitted at the end of the rod, and at the other end 1 locking nut number 10, tube number 7 and rubber tube number 6 pressed into number 5 threaded rod. This allows numbers 6 and 7 to rock on number 5 threaded rod. Then slide number 5 rod into tube and boss number 4. This makes a supporting unit. When rest is adjusted to correct height, flexible tube QDart number 11) is fitted over the main frame in 3 parts leaving centre section to be cut to its correct length. Part number 11 is cut and shaped to fit around the clips and bosses. The joints are then taped up.
Alternative support shown on 2 of 2, figure 2 Key to Illustration 1) L/H main tube 2) RIH main tube with smaller tube welded inside to make telescopic unit secured by 1A clip 3) Window clip RIH & L/H fitted with threaded rod No 5 4) Boss with lB locking cotter & tube 5) Threaded rod 6) Rubber tube 7) Stud tube 8) Boss pressed into No 1 & 2 main tube 9) Boss welded into No 3 10) Lock nuts
Claims (1)
- CLAIM-The rest is soft covered, fully adjustable in height, width and distance from vehicle, and is an aid to more accurate gun use and control.
