Abstract

A collapsible box trailer for towing behind a vehicle comprises a body 2 secured to a wheeled chassis 1. A pair of wheels are attached to braces which can be folded flat beneath the chassis, and the sides and ends of the box may be folded flat on top of the chassis (figure 7).

Description

COLLAPASIBLE BOX TRAILER
This invention relates to a collapsible box trailer.
Box trailers exist in the form of a rigid boxed body mounted upon a wheeled chassis designed to be towed behind a vehicle.
This form of trailer is however very space consuming when not in use.
This invention provides a box trailer which incorporates the ability to fold into a completely flat storage position. This is achieved via a number of hinges positioned at strategic points around the body and chassis.
A specific capability of the invention is shown by way of accompanying drawings.

Referring to the drawings the trailer consists of a wheeled chassis 1, Which can be folded to the underside of the trailer via braced hinges or similar means (not shown). A box body which can be folded into the flat position via hinges or similar means (not shown).
In order to collapse the trailer the means by which the trailer sides, front and back are held in the upright position are removed. Allowing the sides, front and back to then collapse into the flat position.
The trailer can then be either stood on end or turned over and the means by which the wheels are held in the working position can be released allowing the wheels to then be folded into the flat position.
In order to restore the trailer into its working form simply reverse the above procedure.

  1. Claims 1. A collapsible box trailer comprising a wheeled chassis and a
    body in the form of a box, both with the capability to fold into the flat position.
  2. 2. A collapsible box trailer substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
