Description

GEARBOX WITH REVERSE MODE
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a gearbox of a vehicle, and more partIcularly to a gearbox with reverse mode.
A special vehicle: such as farm vehicle, handicapped vehicle and all terrain vehicle, is always equipped with a gearbox for outputting power, and the gearbox as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, generally comprises a housing 11, a drive gear mechanism 12 and a change gear set 13. The drive gear mechanism 12 includes a drive shaft 121 to which are pivoted a plurality of drive gears 122 each having different number of peripheral teeth. The change gear set 13 also consists of a plurality of change gears 132 pivoted on a shaft 131, the change gears 132 are different from each other in number of peripheral teeth and are meshed with the respective drive gears 122.
In application, transmission ratio of the gearbox is shifted by using a shift lever (not shown) to disengage the change gear 132 previously engaged with the drive gear 122 while pushing another selected change gear 132 into an engaged position with the drive gear 122. However, this conventional gearbox still has some disadvantages that need to be improved: The drive gears 122 of the drive gear mechanism 12 are meshed with the change gears 132 of the change gear set 13, therefore, the drive gear mechanism 12 drives the change gear set 13 to rotate in the same direction, namely, the drive gears 122 and the change gears 132 rotate oppositely. In other words, the vehicle is able to move forward but unable to back up. In case the farm vehicle or the all terrain rehicle get trapped in sand, it will be difficult form them to get out of there because of being unable to move backward. Similarly, if the handicapped vehicle is stopped by an obstacle, it will also be a great problem for the handicapped user to push back the vehicle.
The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the aforedescribed disadvantages.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a gearbox with reverse mode that allows the special vehicle: such as farm vehicle, handicapped vehicle and all terrain vehicle, to have a back-up function.
A gearbox with reverse mode in accordance with the present invention comprises a housing, a drive gear mechanism received in the housing and including a drive shaft and a plurality of drive gears pivoted to the drive shaft, a change gear set disposed in the housing and including a shaft and a plurality of change gears pivoted to the shaft, the change gears adapted to be meshed with the drive gears. The drive gear mechanism is further provided with a reverse drive gear, and the change gear set includes a reverse change gear that is connected to the reverse drive gear by a drive chain, so that the reverse drive gear and the reverse change gear rotate synchronously in the same direction.
The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, which show, for purpose of illustrations only, the preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is an exploded view of a conventional gearbox; Fig. 2 is an illustrative view of showing the drive gear and the change gear of Fig. 1 are being engaged with other; Fig. 3 is an exploded view of a gearbox with reverse mode in accordance the present invention; Fig. 4 shows that reverse drive gear and the reverse change gear in accordance the present invention are connected by a chain.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, a gearbox with reverse gear in accordance with the present invention is shown and comprises: a housing 20, a drive gear mechanism and a change gear set 40.
The drive gear mechanism 30 is received in the housing 20 and includes a drive shaft 31 to which are pivoted a plurality of drive gears 32.
The change gear set 40 is also disposed in the housing 20 and includes a shaft 41 to which are pivoted a plurality of change gears 42 adapted to be meshed with the drive gears 32.
The drive gear mechanism 30 is further provided with a reverse drive gear 33, and the change gear set 40 also includes a reverse change gear 43 that is arranged a certain distance away from the reverse drive gear 33, namely, they are disengaged from each other, but are connected by a drive chain 50, so that the reverse drive gear 33 and the reverse change gear 43 rotate synchronously in the same direction. In practical, the ratio of number of teeth between the reverse drive gear 33 and the reverse change gear 43 is 28:12.
In application, transmission ratio of the gearbox is shifted by using a shift lever (not shown) to disengage the change gear 42 previously engaged with the drive gear 32 while pushing the selected change gear 42 into an engaged position with another drive gear 32. In this way, the selected change gear 42 will be engaged with the drive gear 32 and they rotate oppositely to make the vehicle move forward.
Vhen the user need to back up the vehicle, he use the shift lever to disengage the change gear 42 previously engaged with the drive gear 32, allowing the reverse change gear 43 and the reverse drive gear 33 to transmit motion. The reverse change gear 43 and the reverse drive gear 33 will rotate in the same direction since they are connected by the chain 50, thus changing the direction of motion.
Therefore, the farm vehicle or the all terrain vehicle equipped with gearbox of the present invention can get out of the sand trap easily by using the reverse function. Similarly, the handicapped vehicle is stopped by an obstacle, it also can move backward automatically by using the reverse function without needing the handicapped user to push back the vehicle.
While we have shown and described various embodiments in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
