Abstract

A bag for storing cargo straps within the cargo space of a goods vehicle when the straps are not in use has a body made from canvas or similar material which is provided with straps and hooks. The straps and hooks enable the bag to be suspended from the fixings which are provided on the interior roof of the vehicle for attachment of the cargo straps. The body of the bag is long and shallow allowing it to be suspended close to the roof of the vehicle, thereby enabling a forklift truck to operate in the cargo space of the vehicle without the danger of fouling the cargo straps when they are stored within the bag. Provision is also made for the device to be attached by use of a padlock.

Description

STRAP BAG
This invention relates to a Strap Bag, of the type which includes supports to allow it to be suspended from the interior roof of a goods vehicle.
Many Goods vehicles use cargo restraining straps, that are fixed to the interior roof of the vehicle and can be attached to the floor of the vehicle, to prevent sideways movement of the cargo.
However there are different types of cargo and not all require the use of these retaining straps.
Therefore when a goods vehicle is loaded by a forklift truck, then these cargo straps have to be placed out of the way, as they can prove to be a safety hazard to the forklift truck operator and the straps can become damaged during the loading process.
This Strap bag, then consists of a long shallow canvas or some similar material bag. The bag has short lengths of material coming from it to which are fixed securing devices, which allow the bag to be suspended from the roof of the goods vehicle.
An essential feature of this device is it's length and shallow depth, and its ability to suspend itself by use of the cargo straps own fixings.
When attached to the interior roof of the goods vehicle, the cargo straps can be placed within the bag. The device therefore keeps the straps above the height of a forklift truck, allowing the vehicle to be loaded / unloaded in safety, as well as preventing damage to the straps.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1, shows the cargo straps hanging from the roof of the vehicle, and how these straps can fowl against a forklift truck.
Figure 2, shows the strap bag in place, (can be placed anywhere along the length of the cargo area) Figure 3, is a end view of the strap bag.
Figure 4E is a side view of the bag.
Figure 5, is a plan view of the bag.
Figure 6, is the stitching pattern.
As shown in figure 1, the dangling straps can foul aqainst a fork lift truck and cause damaqe to the straps as well as been a safety hazard to the forklift truck operator.
In figure 2. the strap bag is in place, and does not foul against the forklift truck.
Fiqure 3, shows the strap and hook arrangment, with the strap passinq the lenqth of the baq from end hook to end hook, thus addinq re-enforcement. All straps are stitched to the bag along the full length of strap / bag contact area.
Figure 4, shows that the side straps mounted off centre, creating a twisting effect when the bag is in place, which prevents sagging, the side strap does not run hook to hook, but each side strap runs from the hook down the side of the bag and half way alonq the base.
Figure 5, shows the hidden detail of the side strap arrangement.
Figure 6, shows the stitchinq pattern of two verticals with X bracinq Stitches.
