Abstract

Barcodes are animated on mobile phone displays in order to assist scanners that are edge triggered. A barcode is displayed on a mobile phone the barcode moves (linearly, shrinks/grows, rotates) so as to facilitate its being scanned.

Description

I
Edge Triggering Assisted Barcode Definitions * Subscriber: user with a mobile phone.
* Multimedia messaging service (MMS): Mobile phone messaging service allows messages to be sent that include still graphics, animated graphics, text and audio.
* Service Centre: central computer system receiving registrations and delivering content.
* Barcode: machine readable code including but not limited to 2 dimensional barcode formats.
* Barcode reader: a machine, capable of, but not limited to, reading and/or decoding a barcode.
Description
A message is generated by a Service Centre and delivered to a subscriber over, but not limited to, a multimedia messaging service (MMS).
The message includes an animated barcode.
The barcode is presented to a barcode reader that reads and/or decodes the data embedded in the barcode.
To assist in the detection of the barcode, for example where the barcode reader is using edge triggering, the barcode will move.

Claims (8)

  1. Claims 1. A barcode that can be read by a barcode scanner.
  2. 2. According to cLaim 1, a barcode is animated so it can be detected by a barcode reader (figure 1).
  3. 3. According to cLaim 2, the barcode may be rotated to assist detection (figure 2).
  4. 4. According to cLaim 2, the barcode may be moved to assist detection (figure 3).
  5. 5. According to cLaim 2, the barcode may be resized to assist detection (figure 4).
  6. 6. According to claim 2, the barcode may be changed in colour.
  7. 7. According to claims, 3, 4, 5 and 6 any or all of these methods may be combined to get a desired result.
  8. 8. According to cLaim 1, the barcode may be sent to a mobile phone using MMS.
