Abstract
A removable shield that can be placed between the sprocket and cush drive of a motorcycle or bicycle to prevent contamination of the brake callipers and discs when lubricating or cleaning the sprocket comprises a disc moulded from recycled plastic. The disc has a trough 2 which collects excess oil and feeds it to a collection cup 3. A hinge 1 allows the disc to be folded in half for storage and a hole 6 enables it to be hung up. Guide lines 5 are provided on the disc so that it can be cut to fit over any sprocket carrier.
Description
Splatter guard This invention is an injection moulded circular piece of
flexible recycled plastic, which sits between the Cush drive and sprocket of most motorcycles and bicycles. Its function is to eliminate the over spray of lubricants and de greasants which can contaminate brake assemblies, lyres and other associated components. This device is easily stored with the aid of a central integrated hinge and hook hole.
The moulded trough and cup design allows the run off of any fluids. These fluids will be collected and reused, or disposed of in the appropriate manner.
Splatter Guard This invention prevents the spread of oil or chain lube onto the wheel, brake callipers and the brake disc. But also collects the excess oil and transfers it into a cup on the side of the splatter guard.
When an individual are lubing their chain the oil splatters over the wheel brake discs and callipers With this the user then spends time on cleaning the said parts to avoid accident With the placement of the splatter guard the user can be free of hassle cleaning just oil and go.
The splatter guard can be folded with the aid of a plastic hinge set onto centre of device also a hole at the top for easy storage.
The splatter guard can also be used for pushbikes for the same reasons as above I The hinge down the centre for easy storage 2 The trough for collecting excess chain oil 3 The cup to hold excess chain oil 4. The plastic splatter guard 5. The guide lines to be cut to the diameter of the sprocket carrier 6. A hole for hanging the device up on the wall
Claims (6)
- Claims 1. The splatter guard eliminates excess over spray of lubricantsand de- greasants.
- 2. The splatter guard eliminates time cleaning the machine after lubricating or de-greasing the chain.
- 3. The moulded trough of the splatter guard guides the excess fluids into the collecting cup.
- 4. The collected excess fluids deposited in the collection cup may then be either re-cycled or disposed of in the appropriate manner.
- 5. The splatter guard enables you to oil the chain thoughoughly, therefore extending the life of the relevant components.
- 6. The splatter guard can be adapted to fit most popular motor cycles and bicycles very easily.
