MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR KEY CYLINDER CAP
The present invention relates to a mounting structure for a key cylinder cap that enhances security.
Vehicle door locking devices consist of a key cylinder provided at a position facing the outside of the door and a locking device body disposed inside of the door that is locked and unlocked by this key cylinder (refer to, for example, Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2004-100310). In order to enhance the security of the key cylinder in this kind of door locking device, a key cylinder cap is attached to the tip of the key cylinder body by caulking or the like.
I S The key cylinder cap should not come off the key cylinder body even by a criminal prying with a flat-blade screwdriver or the like for security reasons. Therefore, a stronger mounting structure has been desired.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a mounting structure for a key cylinder cap that enables a stronger mounting of a key cylinder cap.
According to the invention, there is provided a mounting structure for a key cylinder cap which is disposed on a tip of a key cylinder body includes leg portions projecting in the outer diameter directions, which are formed on the key cylinder cap, wherein the leg portions are fastened to a door handle bracket and the key cylinder body by being interposed between them.
According to the invention, the leg portions of the key cylinder cap are fastened to a door handle bracket and the key cylinder body by being interposed between the both.
Therefore, even if the portion oi the key cylinder cap provided at the tip of the key cylinder body is pried criminally' it is possible to prevent the key cylinder cap from coming offthe key cylinder body. As a result, the key cylinder cap can be more firmly mounted.
It is preferable that the leg portions be fastened to the door handle bracket and the key cylinder body, by the application of a fastening force along a lengthwise direction of the key cylinder body.
According to the invention, the leg portions of the key cylinder cap are fastened to the door handle bracket and the key cylinder body, by being applied a fastening force along a lengthwise direction of the key cylinder body. Therefore,, even if the portion of the key cylinder Cap provided at the tip of the key cylinder body is pried criminally, its mounting strength can be increased with respect to forces along the lengthwise direction of the key cylinder body mainly acting on the leg portions of the key cylinder cap. As a result, the key cylinder cap can be more firmly mounted.
It is preferable that the door handle bracket include a key cylinder body mounting portion to which the key cylinder body is mounted and a door skin mounting portion which is mounted on a door skin, and the leg portions are interposed between the key cylinder body mounting portion and the key cylinder body.
According to the invention, the leg portions of the key cylinder cap are interposed between the key cylinder body mounting portion and the key cylinder body, are not fixed on the door skin. Therefore, there is no effect on the mounting position of the door handle bracket with respect to the door skin.
It is preferable that the key cylinder body be connected to a door locking device by a cable member.
According to the invention, the key cylinder body is connected to a door locking device by a cable member. Therefore, by interposing the leg portions of the key cylinder cap between the door handle bracket and the key cylinder body, even if the mounting position of the key cylinder body changes with respect to a portion which does not interpose the leg portions, this change can be absorbed by the cable member. As a result, whether or not the key cylinder cap exists on the basis of the specifications, the locking function can be secured without affecting the door locking device.
It is preferable that the key cylinder body includes flat portions which are formed on a outer circumferential portion thereof, and the leg portions includes abutting portions which abut the flat portions along with facing to the flat portions.
According to the invention, the abutting portions of the leg portions of the key cylinder cap face to the flat portions which are formed on a outer circumferential portion the key cylinder body. Therefore, when the key cylinder cap is fitted to the key cylinder body, the flat portions guide the abutting portions so as to slide the abutting portions along the flat portions. As a result, the assembly workability of the key cylinder cap to the key cylinder body can be improved.
It is preferable that the cylinder cap include engaging portions which restrict rotation with respect to the key cylinder body by engaging with the key cylinder body.
According to the invention, the engaging portions engage with the key cylinder body, accordingly rotation of the key cylinder cap with respect to the key cylinder body is restricted. As a result, the assembly workability of the key cylinder cap to the key cylinder body can be improved.

The connecting plate portion 34 is bent outwardly in the widthwise direction of the vehicle from the rear side end edge portion of the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle. The rear end plate portion 35 extends from the outside end edge portion of the connecting plate portion 34 in the widthwise direction of the vehicle to the rear of the vehicle to be approximately flush with the door skin mounting plate portion 31.
A mounting hole 38 is formed through the door skin mounting plate portion 31 l O in alignment with the mounting hole 20 in the door skin 11. Positioning holes 39 are formed through the door skin mounting plate portion 31 in respective alignment with upper and lower positioning holes 21 in the door skin 11.
An insertion hole 41 is formed through the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 at an intermediate prescribed range. Mounting holes 42 are formed through the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 at upper and lower position of the insertion hole 41.
The key cylinder body 14 has a base portion 47 and a cylinder portion 49. The base portion 47 is provided with a cable 44 for transmitting the locking and unlocking action; and an approximately cylindrical cylinder portion 49 is formed like an approximately cylindrical shape, and extends from the intermediate portion of a mounting surface 48 of the base portion 47 along an axial line in a direction perpendicular to the mounting surface 48. Screw holes 50 are drilled perpendicularly from the mounting surface 48 into the base portion 47. Screw holes 50 sandwich the cylinder portion 49, andare in alignment with the upper and lower mounting holes 42 of the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 in mutually opposing positions.
The cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14 has an outer tube portion 53 and a mechanism portion 54. The outer tube portion 53 is formed like an approximately cylindrical shape, and is disposed on a side of the base portion 47. The mechanism portion 54 is inserted inside the outer tube portion 53 from the side of the base portion 47, and extends to the outside of the outer tube portion 53 in the direction of its axial line.
A key insertion hole 56 into which a key (not shown) is inserted is provided in the center of the mechanism portion 54, that is, in the center of an end face 55 of the cylinder portion 49. The key insertion hole 56 is closed by an openable cover 57.
A pair of cylindrical surface portions 60 having cylindrical surfaces are formed coaxially in positions 180 apart on the outer circumferential side of the outer tube portion 53. Protruding portions 61 that protrude slightly in mutually opposing directions are formed between the cylindrical surface portions 60. Flat portions 62 that are parallel to each other are formed at the ends of the protruding portions 61. T he spacing between the flat portions 62 is equivalent to the diameter of the cylindrical surface portions 60.
A key cylinder cap 65 is provided on the key cylinder body 14 so as to cover the end portion thereof. The key cylinder cap 65 is provided at the tip of the key cylinder body 14, that is, at the tip of the mechanism portion 54, so as to cover the tip while exposing the key insertion hole 56. The key cylinder cap 65 has a holed disk portion 67 and a circular cylindrical portion 69. The disk portion 67 is formed like a disk shape.
An opening hole 66 is formed in the center of the disk portion 67. The circular cylindrical portion 69 extends from the outer diameter of the holed disk portion 67 toward the inside in the widthwise direction of the vehicle.
A pair of leg portions 72 are formed in the key cylinder cap 65. One of the pair projects in the outer diameter direction, from the inner side end edge portion of the circular cylindrical portion 69 in the widthwise direction of the vehicle, specifically, in vertically reverse directions.
Each leg portion 72 has a protruding plate portion 73, an extending plate portion (abutting portion) 74, and a mounting plate portion 75. The protruding plate portion 73 projects slightly in the outer diameter direction from the circular cylindrical portion 69.
The extending plate portion 74 extends to the inside in the widthwise direction of the vehicle from the end edge portion of the protruding plate portion 73 opposite the circular cylindrical portion 69. The mounting plate portion 75 projects further in the outer circumferential direction of the circular cylindrical portion 69 from the end edge portion ofthe extending plate portion 74 opposite the protruding plate portion 73. A mounting hole 76 is formed through each mounting plate portion 75. The extending plate portions 74 of the leg portions 72 are disposed to be parallel to each other, and the distance between their inner sides is made to nearly match the spacing between the flat portions 62 ofthe key cylinder body 14. In addition, the mounting plate portions 75 are disposed on the same plane orthogonally intersecting the central axis of the circular cylindrical portion 69.
Engaging portions 77 that protrude inward in the widthwise direction of the vehicle, are formed on the inner side end edge portion of the circular cylindrical portion 69 in the widthwise direction of the vehicle near the leg portions 72.
l he key cylinder cap 65 is mounted so as to cover the tip of the cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14. When the key cylinder cap 65 is moved in the axial direction of the cylinder portion 49 in a state of aligned phases so that the extending plate portion 74 of each leg portion 72 overlaps each flat portion 62 of the cylinder portion 49, since the space between the extending plate portions 74 of the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 nearly matches the space between the flat portions 62 which are formed on the outer circumferential portion of the key cylinder body 14, the extending plate portions 74 abut the flat portions 62 along with facing to them. Therefore, the key cylinder cap 65 approaches the mounting surface 48 of the base portion 47 on the key cylinder body 14 while being guided by the flat portions 62 so that its rotation with respect to the key cylinder body 14 is restricted.
Then, when the mounting plate portions 75 of the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 ultimately abut the mounting surface 48, the tip of the cylinder portion 49 is inserted to inside of the circular cylindrical portion 69, and the holed disk portion 67 abuts the end face 55 of the tip of the cylinder portion 49 in the state of the key insertion hole 56 being positioned within the opening hole 66. At this time, the Engaging portions 77 of the key cylinder cap 65 come to engage the end portions of both sides of the cylindrical surface portions 60 in the outer circumferential direction of the cylinder portion 49. As a result, rotation of the Engaging portions 77, that is, the key cylinder cap 65 with respect to the key cylinder body 14, is restricted by the protruding portions 61 at both sides of the cylindrical surface portions 60. Moreover, the position of the mounting hole 76 of each mounting plate portion 75 of the key cylinder cap 65 aligns with its respective screw hole 50 on the base portion 47 ofthe key cylinder body 14.
The cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14 covered by the key cylinder cap 65 as described above is inserted in the insertion hole 41 in the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 of the door handle bracket 13. A guide recess 80 which restricts rotation of the door handle bracket 13 with respect to the key cylinder cap 65 and the key cylinder body 14, is formed with the insertion hole 41 by inserting the extending plate portions 74 of the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 and the protruding portions 61 of the cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14 into the insertion hole 41. l herefore, the key cylinder cap 65 and the cylinder portion 49 are inserted while rotation of the door handle bracket 13 is restricted.
Then, the mounting plate portions 75 of the key cylinder cap 65 which is covered over the key cylinder body 14, ultimately abut the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 of the door handle bracket 13. At this time, the screw holes 50 in the base portion 47 of the key cylinder body 14 align with the mounting holes 76 ofthe mounting plate portions 75 of the key cylinder cap 65 and the mounting holes 42 in the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 ofthe door handle bracket 13. The axes of these holes follow the extending direction (axial direction) of the cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14.
Next, screws 82which arc inserted in the mounting holes 42 ofthe key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 and the mounting holes 76 in the mounting plate portions of the key cylinder cap 65 from the side of the door handle bracket 13 opposite the key cylinder, body 14 are screwed into the screw holes SO in the key cylinder body 14.
The key cylinder body 14, the key cylinder cap 65 and the door handle bracket IS 13 are integrally fastened as above to constitute a key cylinder unit 85 shown in FIG 2 and FIG 3.
At this time, the leg portions 72 projecting in the outer circumferential direction of the key cylinder cap 65 are fastened to both the door handle bracket 13 and the key cylinder body 14 in a state of being interposed between the door handle bracket 13 and the key cylinder body 14 (see FIG 4).
Moreover, aligned axes of the screw holes 50 of the key cylinder body 14, the mounting holes 76 of the key cylinder cap 65 and the mounting holes 42 of the door handle bracket 13 follow the extending direction of the cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14, so the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 are fastened to the door handle bracket 13 and the key cylinder body] 4 in the extending direction of the key cylinder body 14.
In addition, the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 are interposed between the key cylinder body 14 and the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 which is mounted on the key cylinder body 14 of the door handle bracket 13.
S The actuation portion 28 is inserted in the opening 22 of the door skin 11, and as shown in FIG S. upper and lower positioning protrusions 83 projecting inward in the widthwise direction of the vehicle, which is provided with the fixing portion 26 are inserted in the upper and lower positioning holes 21 of the door skin 11. Accordingly, the door outer handle 12 abuts the outer surface of the door skin 11.
Likewise, the key cylinder cap 65, which projects from the door handle bracket 13, and the cylinder portion 49 of the key cylinder body 14 are inserted in the opening 23, and the upper and lower positioning protrusions 83 of the door outer handle 12 are inserted in the upper and lower positioning holes 39 of the door handle bracket 13.
Accordingly, the key cylinder unit 85, including the integrally fastened the key cylinder body 14, the key cylinder cap 65 and the door handle bracket 13, abut the inner surface of the door skin 11 at the door skin mounting plate portion 31.
In this state, a mounting bolt 87 is inserted through the aligned mounting hole 38 in the door skin mounting plate portion 31 of the door handle bracket 13 and the mounting hole 20 in the door skin 11 from the inner side in the widthwise direction of the vehicle, and the mounting bolt 87 threads into a bushing 88 attached to the fixing portion 26 of the outer door handle 12. Accordingly, as shown in l;IG 4, the key cylinder body 14 and the tip of the key cylinder cap 65 are exposed to the outside of the vehicle from a window hole 90 in the fixing portion 26 of the outer door handle 12. Note that the key cylinder body 14 is connected to a door locking device 91 shown in FIG 6 by the cable member 44.
According to the embodiment described above, the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 are fastened to a door handle bracket 13 and the key cylinder body 14 by being interposed between the both. Therefore, even if the portion of the key cylinder cap 65 provided at the tip of the key cylinder body 14 is pried criminally, it is possible to prevent the key cylinder cap 65 from coming off the key cylinder body 14. As a result, the key cylinder cap 65 can be more firmly mounted.
Further, the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 are fastened to the door handle bracket 13 and the key cylinder body 14, by being applied a fastening force along a lengthwise direction of the key cylinder body 14. l herefore, even if the portion of the key cylinder cap 65 provided at the tip of the key cylinder body 14 is pried criminally, its mounting strength can be increased with respect to forces along the lengthwise direction of the key cylinder body 14 mainly acting on the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65. As a result, the key cylinder cap 65 can be more firmly mounted.
Furthermore, the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 are interposed between the key cylinder body mounting plate portion 33 and the key cylinder body 14, are not fixed on the door skin mounting plate portion 31. Therelore, there is no effect on the mounting position of the door handle bracket 13 with respect to the door skin 11.
Moreover, the key cylinder body 14 is connected to a door locking device 91 by a cable member 44. Therefore, by interposing the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 between the door handle bracket 13 and the key cylinder body 14, even if the mounting position of the key cylinder body 14 changes with respect to a portion which does not interpose the leg portions 72, this change can be absorbed by the cable member 44. As a result, whether or not the key cylinder cap 65 exists on the basis of the specifications, the locking function can be secured without affecting the door locking device 91.
Also, the extending plate portions 74 of the leg portions 72 of the key cylinder cap 65 face to the flat portions 62 which are formed on a outer circumferential portion the key cylinder body 14. Therefore, when the key cylinder cap 65 is fitted to the key cylinder body 14, the flat portions 62 guide the extending plate portions 74 so as to slide the extending plate portions 74 along the flat portions 62. As a result, the assembly workability of the key cylinder cap 65 to the key cylinder body 14 can be improved.
Moreover, the engaging portions engage with the key cylinder body, accordingly rotation of the key cylinder cap 65 with respect to the key cylinder body 14 is restricted.
As a result, the assembly workability of the key cylinder cap 65 to the key cylinder body 14 can be improved.
