Abstract
An anchored duvet and duvet cover comprises a duvet 1, a duvet cover 4, and attachment means at each corner. The attachment means comprise a toggle attached by an elasticated cord 2 to the duvet and corresponding toggle holes 5 in the cover. The toggles are passed through the holes in order to attach the duvet to the cover thus preventing the duvet moving around within the cover and allowing the duvet to be fitted more easily. The arrangement further includes toggles and toggle holes located symmetrically between the corners (not shown).
Description
Anchored Duvet & Duvet Cover
Field of Invention:
The present invention relates to an Anchored Duvet and Duvet Cover for easy, quick and precise assembly of the Duvet Cover to the Duvet, and good retention of the precise assembled Duvet Cover in place even during careless use, such as when tossing and turning in bed.
Definitions in this Citation: Duvet - (also known as an Eiderdown Europe, Comforter - USA, Puff- USA, and Quilt) is a bed covering placed on top of sleeper (like a blanket) for warmth, usually comprising multiple longitudinal broad sealed pockets of polyester and cotton material, stitched together, filled with down and other fluffy warm soft synthetic material.
Duvet Cover - A removable, washable textile cover fitted over a duvet to protect and extend to the life of the duvet, and give smoother comfort to user. Present day duvet covers are provided with closure means to close the cover onto itself, but not means for anchoring the duvet to the duvet cover.
Toggle - A robust haberdashery alternative to a button (used on Ruffle coats).
A toggle consists of a solid (wooden or plastic) dowel embodying preferably tapered ends, the toggle's middle section having means (such as a groove or hole/e) for attaching a cord to form a T. Preferably the corresponding aperture, (button hole) or toggle hole is suitably sized for the toggle to easily pass through axially, but not tangentially when pulled by the cord. 2.
EXISTING STATE OF THE ART - DRAWBACKS
Complicated Assembly: Although Duvet and Duvet Covers have been around for years, many users find it difficult and time consuming to slip a Duvet Cover over a Duvet.
Even experienced Duvet users undergo a complex process of: l st Turn Duvet Cover inside out.
2n Place hands inside Cover, grab two top end corners of Duvet Cover.
3r At the same time grab two top end corners of Duvet.
4 With both arms hold Duvet and Cover high up in the air.
6th Shake Duvet and Cover until Cover drops down over Duvet.
7th While still holding on with one hand, release other hand.
8th Now push Cover down over Duvet until Cover is inside in over Duvet.
gth Make sure free top corner Cover and Duvet are still holding alignment.
1 oth If so, do up Cover closure means provided.
1 1 th If not, start process all over again, ignoring time and exasperation! Tangling in Use: Even after assembly, during tossing and turning in during sleep, a Duvet and Cover can become a tangled mess, with the unfortunate half asleep user unable to ascertain which and where each corner belongs.
Inadequate Haberdashery: Present day Duvet Covers are supplied with a variety of inadequate haberdashery closure means (press studs, buttons, Velcro, and tying tape) to close the Duvet Cover onto itself and are not for easy, quick and precise assembly of the Cover to the Duvet, or retention of the Duvet Cover in perfect alignment during use.
Furthermore, press stud and button closure means are easily damaged, or come off during washing and ironing, and tapes tear and break off with use, adding to their inadequacy as closure means and further exasperation for Duvet users.
NO PRODUCT AVAILABLE: At the time of filing, a product search found no anticipations for an Anchored Duvet and Duvet Cover (for easy, quick and precise assembly of Duvet and Cover with precise retention of during use) is available using the novel Toggle Anchors on Duvet and corresponding eyelets in Duvet Cover means described in this citation.
INVENTIVE STEP / OBJECT: The inventive step of the present invention is to overcome the shortcomings of non availability in the present state of the art, by providing An Anchored Duvet and Mating Duvet Cover to facilitate easy, quick and precise assembly of the Duvet Cover to the Duvet, and perfect retention of the assembled Duvet Cover in place during severe, harsh, and careless use, such as when a sleeper is tossing and turning in bed means described in this citation.
NO ANTICIPATIONS EMPHASIS: To re-emphasise the inventive step of the present invention that no anticipations exist, (at time of first filing patent) if one presently sought after An Anchored Duvet and Duvet Cover from Duvet shops, the present answer - (before date of 1st filing) is, "Sorry! No such product exists" and in particular none embodying the novel "Toggle Anchored Duvet arid corresponding eyelets in Duvet Cover" described in this citation.
Searches on Patent databases and Product Searches produced no anticipations.
Summary of Invention: - An Anchored Duvet and Duvet Cover for easy, quick and precise assembly and retention of Duvet Cover to Duvet, comprising a Duvet, provided with at least four cords, terminating with provision of toggle anchors - each cord, fastened to each corner of Duvet, including provision of a Duvet Cover, embodying corresponding apertures at the four corners, suitably sized for the toggle anchors, to easily pass through axially and be well anchored when pulled tangentially by the cords.
Anchored Duvet / Cover Users Instructions: 1. Pass Duvet Toggle Anchors axially through respective Toggle Holes in Cover.
2. Holding bottom ends, shake or whip Duvet and Cover assembly into place.
Above procedure takes only a few seconds and anchored assembly is retained during use.
Advantages: I. Easy, quick and precise assembly of Duvet Cover to Duvet.
2. No special training or experience required.
3. Anchored assembly is retained even during severe tossing & turning use.
4. Anchors double as cover closure means.
5. Cover free of Haberdashery prone to break offend laundry damage.
REFERENCE TO DRAWINGS: FIG. 1 is an illustration of a preferred embodiment of the invention - showing Duvet Cover part cut away to expose Duvet inside. Also shown are four toggle anchors at the four corners with two enlarged detailed illustrations showing toggle with tapered ends, groove in middle fastened to elastic cord and eyelet in Cover.
FIG. 2 is an illustration of the same embodiment showing the Duvet and toggle anchors without the Cover.
FIG. 3 is an illustration showing similar to Fig. I showing the Anchored Duvet fully covered without any part cutaways.
FIG. 4 is an illustration of an optional embodiment of the invention showing (two) additional Toggle Anchors, Elastic Cords, and matching Cover Eyelets located in between the open ended corners of the Duvet Cover which not only anchor the Duvet Cover to the Duvet, but the Anchors double as a Cover closure means, and eliminate the need for additional haberdashery prone to break off, and laundry damage. 5.
