Abstract
Heating and cooling apparatus for liquids including electrical heating and refrigerant cooling. The device includes a fluid filled coil 9, a heating element, a switch 2 and a thermostat. The cooling and heating elements may be immersed in a liquid such as a drink within a vessel such as a cup. The cooling or heating application may then be selected altering the temperature of the liquid.

Freezer Heater Stick Description
The Freezer Heater Stick is a portable device that could be taken on holiday and used to prepare drinks SO that they are heated or cooled.
The Freezer Heater Stick is hand held and is put into a container which could be conventional sized cup which has got the liquid which is to be heated or cooled in it.
To cool the liquid all the user has got to do is to switch the device to freezer when the device is immersed in the liquid and the liquid is then cooled, and may be cooled to near freezing point. TO heat the liquid all the user has got to do is switch the device to heater when the device is immersed in the liquid and the liquid is then heated, and may be heated to boiling point, the heater is thermostatically controlled and will not switch on if it is put into a container without any liquid and will turn off when the temperature of the liquid reaches boiling point, Fig 1 shows the Freezer Heater Stick. Fig 1.1 is the section of the Freezer Heater Stick that is hand held. Fig 1.2 is the slider switch that turns the device from off to freezer or to heater, Fig 1.3 is the freezer on indicator light. Fig 1.4 is the heater on indicator light. Fig 1.5 is a separator disc. Fig 1,& are the heat emitting coils of the refrigerant. Fig 1.7 is a cooling fin of the heat emitting coils of the refrigerant. Fig 1.S is an opening in the device so that the devices heat absorbing coils and the heater become immersed in the liquid which is to be cooled or heated, and the device does not simply float above the surface of the liquid to be cooled or heated. Fig 1.9 is the heat absorbing coil of the device, in between this coil is the heater of the device. Fig 1.10 is a separator between the heat emitting coils section of the device and the section of the device that: absorbs heat from the liquid that is in the container via the heat absorbing coils of the refrigerant; and the heater. Fig 1.11 is the cable of the device. Fig 1.12 is the plug of the device through which mains ac power is obtained.
Fig 2 shows a view of the device from below. Fig 2.1 is the heat absorbing coil spiral. Fig 2.2 shows the heat absorbing tube that runs up the device to the pump. Fig 2.3 is the heater of the device.
Fig 3 shows the freezing coils of the device. Fig 3.1 is the heat absorbing coils GO the device. Fig 3.2 is a pump which is powered by do current. Fig 3.3 is the heat emitting coils of the device. Fig 3.4 is the cooling fins of the device. These are so arranged using thermodynamics that the pump causes the refrigerant to absorb heat due to evaporation and be turned to gas and then to emit this heat in the heat emitting coils as the refrigerant is converted from gas to liquid.
Fig 4 is the heater of the device. Fig 4.1 is the heater section that contains a bi-metallic strip so that it is turned off if it becomes too hot. Fig 4.2 are the mains ac contacts of the heater.
Fig 5 is a side view of the Freezer Heater Stick showing the main components and a view inside the device.
Fig 5.1 is the mains ac contacts of the plug. Fig 5.2 is the power cable of the device along which mains ac goes to the device. Fig 5.3 is a knot of the cable so that the cable is not pulled out of the circuit board.
Fig 5.4 is the circuit board of the device. Fig 5.5 is the switch Of the device. Fig 5.6 is the freezer on indicator light. Fig 5.7 is the primary coil of the transformer. Fig 5.8 is a core of soft iron of the transformer. Fig 5.9 is the secondary coil of the transformer. Fig 5.10 in the dc motor of the pump.
Fig 5.11 is the pump blades which move the refrigerant.
Fig 5.12 is the tube which feeds liquid refrigerant to the heat absorbing coil. Fig 5.13 is the heat absorbing coil. Fig 5.14 is the tube that goes up to the heat emitting coil. Fig 5.15 is the heat emitting coil.
Fig 5.16 is the tube that goes to the pump from the heat emitting coil, Fig 5.17 is where this tube enters the pump. 5.18 is the heater. Fig 5.1g is the separator.
Fig 5.20 is the heater indicator light. Fig 5.21 is a cooling fin of the heat emitting coil. Fig 5.22 is an opening that allows the device to be immersed in the liquid which it is to cool or heat. Fig 5.23 is a resistor that has variable resistance related to heat incident on it so that the pump is stopped from functioning when the liquid that the device is intended to cool is at a temperature of near freezing, so that it does not become frozen. There is spaces supplied due to the orientation of the components for wiring to or from the components where appropriate.
Fig 6 is a circuit of the pump of the freezing coil and the heater. By the circuit the pump is supplied with do current from mains act The pump is made to operate such that it will cool the liquid it is meant to cool till it is just above freezing point, by supplying the pump with timed bursts of energy from the multi- vibrator astable circuit, bursts of energy which are determined by the resistance of the resistors and temperature dependent resistors. A switch turns the pump section on. A switch also turns the heater section on, and supplies the heater with mains act
Claims (1)
- Freezer Heater Stick Claims 1. This device is a hand held portable devicewhich can be used to cool a liqui,5 it is immersed in to near freezing point or heat a liquid it is immersed in to boiling point, it uses freezing coil which is a coil of tubing and is a heat absorbing coil and a heat emitting coil with a pump which GOnVertS a refrigerant into a gas in the heat absorbing coil due to evaporation by the action of the pomp and then feeds the gas into heat emitting coil, with cooling fins where the gas is converted hack to liquid due to condensation before being returned to the heat absorbing coil by the action of the pump and the process repeated, it also uses a heater, the freezer is switched on by a switch and turns itself off by the pump which operates periodically due to the circuit switching off the pump vie a temperature dependent resistor network when the temperature of the liquid the device is used to cool reaches near freezing point, the heater is switched on by a switch and turns itself off via a bi-metllic strip when the temperature of the liquid the device is used to heat reaches boiling point or when the device is switched on and has not been immersed in a liquid, the Freezer Heater Stick is substantially as described herein with reference to theaccompanying description and drawings.
