Counter-scales and the like.-A weighing-scale of the double parallelogram type having inverted U-shaped girders carrying notched or V-bearings adapted to rest on the end knife-edges of the scale beam is characterized by the fact that the girders are formed of stamped or pressed sheet metal, and each constitutes one element of a cross-shaped pan holder, the other element of which is constituted by a sheet metal strip secured to the girder. The side members 1 of the frame are pressed from sheet iron and are united by transverse rods 2 and by a bridgepiece 21. The fulcrum bearings 5 for the beam 7 are secured to plates 3 which are retained against the outsides of the side members 1 by the riveted ends of the bridge-piece 21 and one of the rods 2. The pan support 11 at each end of the beam is of inverted U-shape as shown in Fig. 2, and is secured to a depending leg 22 cranked as shown in Fig. 1 to avoid the knifeedged bar 8. Stop plates 13 and a sheet-metal cross-piece 15 are secured to the pan support to accommodate the scale pan. Indicating pointers 19 are formed on the cross-bars 15. Integral w ith or attached to each depending leg 22 of the pan supports are two contacting plates 24, 25 cut away so as to form aligned knife-edges upon which the stay 23, Fig. 1, rests. The centre of the stay is provided with notches which engage downturned tongues pressed out of the bridge-piece 21. Apertures 4 are cut in the plates 3 to receive inscription plates.
