Abstract

A self supporting radiator cover comprises a single sheet of metal and does not require any additional fixing means to attach the cover to the radiator. The cover may include top 2 and bottom 3 flanges that permit the cover to be located on the radiator and apertures 1 in a top portion of the cover to permit heat transfer by convection.

DESCRIPTION
CENTRAL HEATING RADIATOR COVERS
The invention relates to a form of radiator cover made in one piece from sheet metal, with no component parts, for use on central heating radiators of the types in general use for domestic and commercial systems.
The sheet metal is formed in one piece so that it will fit over the radiator and stay in position without the need for fasteners, hooks, clips, hangers or fixings.
Radiator covers and cabinets are well known but are usually made from wood or wood substitute material (MDF) with pierced or mesh grills to aid heat distribution and they use metal fixings to hold them in place around or on the radiator They are made up of component parts, are bulky, heavy, and without grills poor distributors of heat.
The object of this invention is to provide a central heating radiator cover, made in one piece from sheet metal, which will distribute heat efficiently by both radiation and convection, is easy to put in place and remove, is relatively light weight, unobtrusive and does not need any metal fixings to hold it in place on the radiator.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a top view of the radiator cover showing the heat convection apertures ( 1).
F1G.2 is a frontal view of the radiator cover.
FIG 3 is a cross sectional view AA of the radiator cover, looking from the side, showing the location flanges (2) and (3) FIG.4 is a view looking up through the open bottom of the radiator cover, showing the heat convection apertures (1) and location flanges (2) and (3).

Claims (1)

  1. I) A radiator cover made in one piece from sheet metal, with no component parts, fasteners, fixings, clips, hooks or hangers, for use on central heating radiators of the types in general use for domestic and commercial systems.
    2) The cover as described in Claim 1 can be placed over the radiator where it holds itself in place without the need for any type of fixings, fasteners, hooks, hangers or clips.
    3) A cover as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, being lightweight and without fixings, can be put in place or removed quickly and easily 4) A cover as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 being made in sheet metal is an efficient distributor of heat by radiation in addition to convection via the apertures in the top.
    5) A radiator cover substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
