Abstract

A ClickGuard comprises a housing which can be attached, via integral clips, to a seat belt buckle, after buckle counterparts have been connected, so as to prevent access to the buckle release button. The housing may be made of plastic.

Description

CLICKGUARD
The invention relates to a safety device for infant passengers in any vehicle where there is a legal requirement to wear a seatbelt.
There are many devices to enhance child safety in a vehicle, but none to prevent a child from removing his or her seatbelt while their parent, for example is concentrating on their driving. The fact that a seatbelt can be removed so effortlessly and quite often without the parent realising poses a massive risk to the child and any other passengers in the event of an accident.
An object of the invention is to enhance the idea of the seatbelt and provide an extra element of safety and peace of mind for the parent. It will prevent and discourage a child or infant from removing their seatbelt yet will be easily removable by an adult in the case of an emergency.
Accordingly, the invention provides a clip which clicks into place around the seatbelt release compartment and essentially forms a guard against the child releasing his or her seatbelt.
Preferably the clip is made of a durable plastic which is also flexible enough to be allowed to literally clip on and off of the seatbelt release compartment covering the seatbelt release button.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a frontal view of the whole device; Figure 2 shows a 3-D view; Figure 3 shows back of the device.
As shown in Figure1, the clip is compact. It allows a barrier to be formed over the seatbelt release button. It will not be brightly coloured so that a child will not be attracted to it. Figures 2 and 3 show two small grasps parallel to each other, at either side of the device.
