Abstract

A coaster for a container such as a glass, with a non-absorbent base 2 with an upstanding liquid absorbent edge 1, where the inner surface of the absorbent edge grips the exterior of the glass so that the coaster remains attached to the base of the glass when the glass is lifted. The liquid absorbent edge absorbs condensation and/or slight spillage that may run down the exterior surface of a lifted glass, thereby protecting surfaces from being stained and damage. Preferably the non absorbent base 2 is made from a non-absorbent fabric that covers the outer surface of the absorbent edge to avoid spillage or dripping from the coaster.

Description

PERIPHERY COASTER
A coaster to use with a container, such as a drinking glass or bottle, comprising of a liquid absorbent edge and a non-absorbent base.
Condensation usually forms and runs down the exterior surface of a container containing a cold or chilled beverage. One of the mam purposes of the ordinary coaster Is that they are designed to protect the supporting surface, such as table, from condensation and slight spilling. The other main purpose is to gather the condensation and to stay on the supporting surface whilst the container Is lifted.
When using an ordinary coaster the remaining condensation or slight spillage may drip from the container when lifted or separated from the supporting surface and/or ordinary coaster. Some ordinary coasters may stick to the base of the containers and needs to be held down physically, with a separate action, at the same time as lifting the container.
Taking the afore-mentioned into account, once the container is lifted or separated from the supporting surface and/or coaster, there is nothing to prevent the remaining condensation or spilling from dripping. The condensation or spilling from the lifted container can drip on the supporting surface, items on the supporting surface (such as computer keyboards, books, food, etc.), clothing of the handler or any objects or persons below the lifted container. The dripping or spilling from the container may cause damage, stains or unwanted wetness.
An object of this invention is to stay attached to the container, avoiding dripping or slight spilling, when lifted or separated from the supporting surface.
This invention relates to a coaster, used with a container, which consists of a liquid absorbent inundated edge being of such inner dimensions, in relevance to the exterior dimensions of a container, that it will stay attached to the exterior surface of a container, when lifted from a supporting surface, and a non-absorbent base which is fixed to the edge.
The edge is preferable from a liquid absorbent fabric which also consists of expandable characteristics enabling it to grip the exterior surface of the container. The base is preferable from a non liquid absorbent fabric.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanied drawing: Figure 1: Top view of the present invention Figure 2: Side view of the present invention Figure 3: The present invention in perspective Figure 4: Cross-section of the present invention Best shown in Figure 3 are the liquid absorbent inundated edge I and the fixed non- absorbent base 2.
The liquid absorbent inundated edge 1 will gather condensation and/or slight spilling that runs down the exterior surface of the container. The non-absorbent base 2 protects the supporting surface from the condensation or slight spilling that will gather In 1.
The present invention as a whole, 1 and 2, is designed to stay attached to the container when lifted, preventing any condensation or slight spilling from dripping on the handler, supporting surface or any person or object below the container. This is possible due to the expandable characteristics and relevance of the inner dimensions of the edge 1 to the exterior surface dimensions of the container.
The main objective of the present invention, shown in the drawings, is to stay attached to the container and can be of any shape, size or material.

Claims (2)

  1. Claims 1. A coaster, used with a container, which consists of a liquid
absorbent inundated edge being of such inner dimensions, in relevance to the exterior dimensions of a container, that it will stay attached to the exterior surface of a container, when lifted from a supporting surface, and a non-absorbent base which is fixed to the edge.
  2. 2. The present invention in 1 where the outer surface of the liquid absorbent inundated edge is covered with a non-absorbent fabric to avoid spilling or dripping.
