Abstract

A musical drum kit which can be used simultaneously by two players 18, 19, such as a teacher and a student, in face to face relationship. The drum kit has a bass drum (10, fig 1) which is shared by the two players. Separate foot pedals (14, fig 3) are mounted or positioned at both ends of the drum for use by each player. Tom-toms 16, 17 may be mounted on pivotal supports (15, fig 4) so that the drum heads can be turned towards each of the players. Two pairs of spurs (13, fig 2) may be provided on the bass drum for levelling and additional stability.

Description

TEACHING DRUM KIT
This invention relates to a teaching drum kit.
The standard drum kit, as used by thousands of drummers worldwide as part of an orchestra, big band, pop/rock band, indeed, any modern genre of music. This standard kit can accommodate only one player at a time.
The player sits on a stool with the kit arranged in front of him/her and both feet are placed on fixed pedals, again in front of him/her, which operate the hi-hat cymbals and the bass drum pedal.
This invention will accommodate two players - teacher and student, one either side of the kit - both players sit and face each other with the kit in the middle of them.
I propose to be able to attach a bass drum pedal at both heads of the bass drum i.e. the drum skins. The bass drum will require an extra pair of spurs to ensure the bass drum is level for both pedals to be attached securely.
A tom-tom holder is to be mounted in the centre of the up-facing end of the bass drum to accommodate two tom-tome - one to be tilted towards each of the two players.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 shows a standard bass drum front view 10 side view 11 with one pair of spurs 12 again as standard.
Fig. 2 shows side view of bass drum displaying two spurs - one of standard pair and one of the additional pair.
Fig. 3 shows bass drum with both pedals fitted 14.
Fig. 4 shows tom-tom holder capable of accommodating two tom-tome as standard mounted 15.
Fig. 5 shows tom-tom holder mounted with tom-tome fitted and tilted accordingly to accommodate teacher and student simultaneously 16&17.
Referring to the drawing the teaching drum kit comprises a standard bass drum Dont view 10 and side view 1 1 with one pair of spurs as standard 12 with an additional pair of spurs 13 attached in order to accommodate the attachment of two bass drum pedals 14 one at either end of the bass drum to accommodate student 18 and teacher 19. In addition a regular tom-tom mounting is situated in the middle of the top end of the bass drum 15 to accommodate two tom-tome, one for student 2.
and the other for teacher with tom-tome 16&17 fitted and tilted accordingly.
Fig. 5 shows the side view of the completed teaching drum kit accommodating student 18 and teacher 19 simultaneously. 3.

Claims (6)

1. A teaching drum kit to accommodate teacher and student simultaneously.
2. A teaching drum kit as claimed in claim 1 wherein an extra pair of spurs is attached to the bass drum to ensure the levelness of the drum.
3. A teaching drum kit as claimed in claim 1 and 2 accommodating the attachment of two separate bass drum pedals - one for student and one for teacher.
4. A teaching drum kit as claimed in claim 2 with a regular standard tomtom mounting system to accommodate two tom-tome.
5. A teaching drum kit as claimed in claim 3 and 4 with tom-tome mounted and facing opposite ways so as to accommodate student and teacher simultaneously.
6. A teaching drum kit substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawing.
