Abstract

The plastic bag (a) has two tabs or lips (b) which are extensions of the plastic on either side, which are used to pull open the bag. The lips on the bag may be given a different colour than the rest of the plastic bag to make them stand out and be more visible.

Description

EASY OPEN PLASTIC BAGS
This invention relates to plastic bags.
Plastic bags of all descriptions are widely used nowadays, with applications ranging from being used to carry items bought when shopping, to disposing of refuse.
However' plastic bags can be quite difficult to open when new, wasting time and is not very user friendly. It is particularly troublesome for older people who may have arthritis and as a result find it difficult to use their thumbs to open up plastic bags.
According to the present invention there are extensions of the plastic itself on either side just below the opening of the bag forming lips. The lips enable the consumer to open the bag quickly and efficiently by using them as a grip to pull open the bag. The shape, size or positioning of the lips on the bag may be varied to achieve the desired result of opening the bag easily.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described detail with reference to the Baccompanying drawings.
Figure l shows the plastic lip on the side of the bag.
Figure 2 shows how the lips appear from a top view of the unopened bag.
Figure 3 shows the top view of the bag when opened by use of the lips Referring to figure 1,2 and 3, the plastic bag (a), has on it the plastic lip extension(s) (b). The lips (b) would be the same distance down from the opening of the bag (a).
The lips (b) would be made as part of the plastic bag (b) during the production process itself.
Figure 3 shows the bag (a) when opened as desired, by pulling on the lips (b). Arrows indicate the direction in which the lips (b) would be pulled in order to open the bag (a).
