Abstract

An illuminated warning sign 1 which can be activated by the driver of a vehicle when the driver is unfamiliar with a route. Use of the sign alerts the drivers of following vehicles to possible risk situations. The sign is connected to the vehicle's electrical system and is mounted in the area of the rear window. Activation of the light is by means of a switch on the vehicle's dashboard. The information may be conveyed in the form of a question mark or other appropriate symbol.

The invention relates to a vehicle warning light that is activated by a driver when he/she is unsure of his route or approaches a new area (in which he/she has never previously driven).
Accidents and 'road rage' incidents often arise when drivers of tailing cars do not appreciate that the driver in front is on an unfamiliar road, is unclear of the way or may have to make a sudden change to get back on the right direction.
The object of this invention is to provide an appropriate warning light which, when activated by a driver, alerts other drivers behind to a possible risk situation.
preferred embodiment of the invention is described with reference to the accompanying drawing, Figure I, which shows the rear elevation of a vehicle.
As indicated the warning light I is located in the rear window area 2 and is connected to the vehicles electrical wiring system. The light is illuminated, preferably to display a white question mark on a blue background. Alternatively the light may employ a combination of colours and symbols to comply with Ministry of Transport (or other relevant authority) requirements.

  1. I. A specific light fixed to the rear of a vehicle to warn drivers that the driver activating the light is unfamiliar with his/her route.
