Abstract

Mobile phones may be made to be worn on the wrist, like a wrist watch (or a pocket watch.) Besides operating as cellular phones, these telephone watches could act as receivers and transmitters of signals which may be processed by a PDA when connected to it. The devices should thus be easy to carry, and use and not easy to loose. The PDA may be necessary for internet connection or photo messaging. The phone may use rechargeable batteries which can be easily replaced.

Description

Mobile Phone Watch It all started by losing two mobile phones in quick
succession sometime ago. One was stolen and the other I lost.
irst of all, 1 used to think of ways and means to prevent theft - but then l learnt that the technology is trying to solve this problem. Then 1 got interested in thinking of ways and means to avoid loosing the mobile phone. This is when the idea came to my mind, why not have the mobile phones strapped to your wrist, like a watch where from one can use it as well as not loose it.
Being myself a non-technical person, in the field, I then tried to find out about the possibility of reducing the size of the mobile phones to a size which would neither be cumbersome to wear nor look hideous on wearing. I learnt that the maximum weight and space in a mobile phone is taken up by the power source - the rechargeable battery. If the batteries are rechargeable then why not make them replaceable too - one can then have a set of 4 batteries - one in the mobile phone, one spare in the pocket while the other two are being recharged at the office or at home.
Another thought was to somehow reduce the demand on the batteries. In the age of 3G (A generation) mobile phones when technology is constantly trying to provide more and more facilities or functions in a mobile phone - reducing the size of the battery as well as reducing functions of a mobile phone sounded like a backward step.
Page 1 But where there is a problem, there usually is a solution as well and luckily, I hit upon another idea - why not reduce the demand on the mobile phone, a) a small primitive mobile phone - used simply for either making telephonic conversation or maximally adding text messaging to it too. This mobile phone will use less power.
b) and use the mobile phone as a signal receiving and transmitting unit to be connected to a PDA if the aim is to use the mobile phone for higher functions - like sending and receiving images, connecting to the internet, recording messages etc. This is how I have reached on my innovation - the idea of devising a large or bulky wrist watch or even a pocket watch size mobile phone worn on wrist or kept in pocket and taken out as necessary for use but kept clippers to the dress with a chain. This phone should provide the basic function of telephonic talk. It could also bear a slot on one side through which it can be wired up (connected) with a PDA (Pocket Electronic diary), which these days provides a lot of functions like photo-messaging, connections to the internet, text messaging and may even provide a function to record a telephonic talk if need be.
The PDAs being bulky are more likely to be carried in the briefcase and not in the pocket and therefore are less likely to be lost easily. When one uses the PDA with the mobile Page 2 phone-watch, one will have to disconnect the wire or the lead from the watch going into the PDA after use and will automatically stack the PDA back in his briefcase.

Claims (1)

  1. PATENT CLAIM
A patent is claimed for Devising a "wearable" wrist-watch type (with straps or chain) or a pocket watch type (with chain and a clip) mobile phone acting as a transmitter and receiver of signals. The mobile phone can have function of telephonic talk, and transmitting and receiving signals from a PDA when connected to it (where the use of a PDA is deemed necessary for using internet connection, photo-messaging etc.).
Further in order, to reduce the size of the "wearable" phone perhaps more easily replaceable set of rechargeable smaller batteries may be provided with the watch (as explained in the
    introduction).
