Abstract

A building block 1 has insulation 2 bonded to it. The insulation 2 is 5 mm larger on all sides at the face distant from the block 1 so that when laid with a 10 mm mortar joint 4, the insulation edges 3 meet, as shown in Fig 3.

Description
Insulation This invention relates to cavity wall insulation bonded together to a building block.
A building block with the insulation foam or other form of insulation bonded to the block so the block and insulation form one unit Advantages are: With this system either outside skin of brickwork can be built or the inside skin of blocks can be built first 2) With the insulation already fixed to the block there is no need to fix the insulation separatley 3) There would be no need to price the insulation as the block and insulation The object of this invention is to make building walls easier and quicker.
The essential feature is that the insulation is bonded in whatever way to the building block.
An important feature is that the insulation should be slightley angled as Fig 2 and 3 making it 5mm larger on all the back edges this is so when the blocks are laid on top of one another with a 1 Omm mortat bed the insulation will meet together as Fig 3 forming a larger area of unbroken insulation.
Figure 1 shows an isometric veiw of the insulated block Figure 2 shows the edge of the block and insulation Figure 3 shows a 1 Omm mortar bed joint between the blocks and also shows the the angled insulation meeting together Figure 4 shows a top view of block and insulation ok

Claims (1)

  1. Claims 1) A building block comprising of a building block with insulation
    bonded to it 2) A building block in Claim 1 wherein block means thermalite or concrete 3) A building block in Claim 1 or 2 wherein insulation means foam or any other insulation 4) A building block in Claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein insulation is bonded to it 5) A building block in Claim 1-4 wherein the insulation is angled on all edges of one side of the block making the insulation Smm larger on all edges as Fig 2 and 4 on the drawings 6) A building block in Claim 1-5 wherein the building block is not a standard size 7) A building block in claim 1-6 wherein the insulation can be various thicknesses to accomodate different size cavities 8) A building block in Claim 1-7 wherein bonded means any sort of sticking surface to either the block or insulation 9) A building block substantially described herein with references to Fig 1-4 10) A building block in claim 1-9 wherein block means any other material
