Abstract

A doorbell which emits a recorded sound when a switch is operated. The doorbell comprises: a microphone and a record switch for recording announcements or novelty sounds; a doorbell switch to activate replay of the recorded sound; a battery; a speaker; and internal circuits. The doorbell may be powered from an external source or battery, may use a digital voice recorder integrated circuit, the memory may be non-volatile, the sound may be from 1 to 30 seconds duration and the doorbell may be self contained.

Description

Re-Recordable Doorbell Device Description The Re-recordable Doorbell Device is described as a novelty product for the domestic household market. The doorbell box is a self-contained unit which includes loudspeaker, microphone and battery. ' It is similar to a standard doorbell but will emit any sound which has been recorded into its built-in memory. The plastic box which houses the circuit board, loudspeaker, battery and microphone is desiged to be fitted on or near the door. The doorbell switch is effectively the 'playback' start switch. A normal doorbell style push-button switch is used to start the device into playback mode which then reproduces the sound through the loudspeaker. The sound is recorded into the device by pushing and holding the record button until the sound has finished. Normal length of recording of the sound is 30 seconds, limited by the electronic device. Once the sound has been recorded, the device will play the sound back once the doorbell switch is pushed. The device keeps the recorded sound in its built-in memory until it is replaced with a new sound. Novelty announcements or sound effects can be recorded into the device. The memory is non-volatile and thereby keeps the sound even if the power from the battery is removed.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims This device reproduces the recorded sound once the doorbell switch is pushed which activates the internal circuit to start the playback of the sound. The device can playback any sound that has been recorded into it from between 1 second and up to 30 seconds. The recorded sound can be any sound which the user has recorded into the device whilst pushing the recording button and the sound is picked up using the internal microphone in the doorbell unit. The unit is a self-contained device that runs on either an external power supply or on its internal batteries, the exception being that of the doorbell switch (playback switch) and connecting wire. The device is digital and therefore does not use any mechanically moving parts. The device is intended to be used as a doorbell in a domestic house or any property that requires a doorbell.
