Abstract
An elongate section 3 positioned between two transparent panels 1,2, e.g. internal wall partition panels, is made of extruded translucent crystal compound of symmetrical cross section.
Description
1 2404387 1 1
Description
Link Section [0001] The present invention is a link section positioned between two flat, transparent panels, used particularly for internal partition wall structures.
2] The invention has particular, but not exclusive, application as a structural element in order to divide multi-purpose environments, with modular transparent walls.
Background of the invention
3] Partition walls are made up of a series of various width transparent panels, extending from floor to ceiling, the perimeter ofthe transparent panels are held by various means, notable are aluminum profile tracking systems or timber with a groove into which the transparent element is inserted or extruded plastics, none of which form part of the invention.
4] Typically each series of various widths of transparent panels are held together edge to edge. This edge detail can comprise of various forms, typically transparent silicon sealant, double sided tape or polycarbonate sections.
5] A problem exists with silicon or adhesive joints in that they have to be removed by cutting out with a craft knife. Neither are they recyclable and the process is very labour intensive.
6] Specific embodiments of the present invention aim to provide an improved method for construction of a joint between various widths of transparent panels.
Description of invention
7] This and other aims are achieved with the invention according to the characteristics of attached claims and drawings' by means of a vertical section placed between edge-beveled transparent panels.
8] This invention is made of extruded translucent crystal compound that fits within the void created by the beveled transparent panels. This link may be any symmetrical shape.
9] Introduction to drawing Figure 1 shows a plan view of two sheets of beveled edged transparent panels (I & 2) with the link section (3) in the centre forming a joint.
Advantages [0010] Advantageously the link is friction fitted into the edge-beveled joint.
1] Advantageously the translucent crystal compound requires no form of adhesive.
10012] Advantageously the transparent sheeting requires a different edge, namely an inverted bevel of any shape.
3] Advantageously the translucent crystal compound is the same shape as the inverted bevel. It is over size, so that it compresses.
4] Advantageously when (1) and (2) apply pressure to (3) it forms a seal.
5] Advantageously it can be used both horizontally or vertically.
6] It is very quick to install and remove.
7] Due to the lack of adhesive, the linking is recyclable.
Claims (6)
- Claims 1. The link section is to be placed between edged beveledtransparent sheeting.
- 2. A link as claimed in Claiml is to be oftranslucent crystal compound
- 3. A link as claimed in Claim 1 is to be of symmetrical shape.
- 4. A link as claimed in Claim 1 can be vertical or horizontal.
- 5. A link as claimed in any of the preceding claims can be made of any type of translucent material.
- 6. A link section substantially as described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
