Abstract

Air-heating sloves.- In air-heating appara. tus having blowing means for creating a blast and controlled means for heating the blast, a member directly operable bv the blast is operatively connected to the heatcontrolling means in such a way that the heating means is operative only when the blowing means is in action. As shown in the Figure, which illustrates the application of the invention to a hair-drying installation, the apparatus comprises a fan 5 driven by an electric motor 6 and having an intake conduit 4 near the end of which is a gas-heater 1 having a pilot jet 2. In the delivery conduit 7 of the fan a flap-valve 9, adapted to be opened under the action of the blast, is mounted, the flap-valve being pivoted on a spindle which passes through the walls of the conduit. This spindle carries at one end an arm 13 and adjustable weight 14, and at its other end an arm 15 having a slot which engages a pin 17 on a disc 18 secured to the plug of the gas-cock 10. The arrangement is such that as the flap-valve is operated by the blast, the gas is turned on to heat the blast. The hot air is delivered to one or more nozzles 8 adjacent to which motor control switches 19, each combined with an air-control cock, may be arranged. The flap-valve 9 may be supported within a casing 11 adapted to be fitted into an existing system and instead of a gas-heater an electric heater may be employed.
