Abstract

A carrying handle comprises an arcuate member having projections at either end, the projections being adapted to retain the handles of shopping, grocery or carrier bags being carried by the user. The carrying handle may be made more comfortable by padding or sheathing the arcuate member with a softer, flexible material. The carrying handle may be fabricated from any of plastic, metal and wood, or a combination thereof. In use, the carrying handle may be held in the hand or worn over a shoulder.

Description

DESCRIPTION Page 1
SHOPPING BAG CARRIER
The invention relates to a handle which is designed to carry a single or multiple bags of shopping in a way that substancially reduces the risk of pain and injury to the user.
The transportation of a heavy load or multiple loads of purchases in plastic shopping bags in the hands presents a number of problems that this invention remedies. This shopping bag carrier is designed to avoid finger pain, posture discomfort, limb injury due to aching muscles and the cumulative effect this may have on joints, fatigue and this invention is designed to liberate the hands, as such loads can now be carried comfortably and securely on the shoulder.
Previous bag carrying devices are not comfortable in the hand over any distance, and cannot be used safely on the shoulder.Nor would they be comfortable when placed over the knee when sitting.
The object of this invention is to provide a comfortable device to facilitate the carrying of shopping bags on the shoulder whilst also being comfortable to carry in the hand over long distances, and can be placed securely over the knee when sitting.
This invention's essential features are, a curved strong, portable and lightweight central arc to facilitate the carrying of shopping bags on the shoulder whilst also being comfortable to carry in the hand over long distances.
PATE
The shopping bag carrier can be placed in a way that restrains the bag contents securely, which will be particularly convenient on public transport.
Also the device has protrusions at the ends of the arc which retain and secure the handles of the plastic bags in place.
The carrier is made of a strong lightweight material such as plastic, wood, metal etc. or a combination of appropriate materials, with an optional soft outer layer to thte centre arc for additional comfort when in use.
A preferred embodiment of the shopping bag carrier will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 2 shows a plan view of the shopping bag carrier showing the unique feature of simple protrusions on each end of the arc which secure the shopping bag handles in place.
Figures 3 and 4 show two examples of how these protruding pieces on each end of the arc can be adapted to form many different letters of the alphabet, or other shapes to meet marketing demands.
Figure 5 shows three examples of how the shopping bag carrier can be used.
Figure 5 (a) Shows the shopping bag carrier holding bags on the shoulder.
Figures (b) Shows the shopping bag carrier in it's hand carrying position Figure 5 (c) Shows the shopping bag carrier in the over knee position.
