Abstract
239,889. Mond, A. L., (Metallbank und Metallurgische Ges. Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 14,. 1925. Gases, separating mixtures of. - The heat economy in the process of reactivating solid adsorption media by means of heated or superheated vapours, e.g. superheated steam, is improved by utilizing the heat of condensation of the vapours leaving the reactivating vessel for generating fresh vapours. In the arrangement shown, carbon charged with benzene is reactivated, and the benzene is recovered by passing superheated steam through the vessel a containing the carbon. The mixture of vapours leaving the vessel a is condensed in the evaporator b, producing an equivalent amount of steam which is compressed and superheated by an ejector apparatus c and returned to the vessel a. The condensate from the evaporator b passes into the cooler d, cooled by water which passes on to the evaporator b. In a modification, the reactivation is effected under reduced pressure, the ejector apparatus being replaced b a compressor interposed between the vessel a and the evaporator b, and a superheater through which the steam passes. on its way to the vessel a.
