Abstract

A bite indicator device comprises an arm 1 pivotally attached at one end to a fishing rod 26 while the other end is fitted with an eye/ring 23 to engage the fishing line 21. The arm is releasably secured to the rod by an adjustable clip A. In use the device lifts indicating a bite and the free end of the bar is magnetically secured to a securing clip B. This holds the arm away from the line giving the angler freedom to use the rod without having to remove the indicator. The arm is fitted with an moveable weight which is used to adjust the sensitivity of the device, and may be fitted with a light to enhance visibility at night.

A FISH DROP EYE BITE INDICATOR

The invention relates to a fish bite indicator which are used in conjunction with electronic bite alarm rod rests, these are weights attached to a fishing line by a quick release catch, they are also tethered to a rod rest.

Such indicators are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage that when a bite is indicated and the rod is lifted off the rest, the weight is automatically released from the line therefore it has to be reconnected after every catch.

The object of this invention is to keep the bite indicator attached to the fishing line at all times.

According to the present invention there is provided a fish drop eye bite indicator comprising of releasable securing clips for securing onto a fishing rod, the drop eye being adapted to pivot to and from the rod, a means for the drop eye to pivot from a releasable securing dip on the rod, a means of automatically securing to a releasable securing clip on the rod, a means of weighting the drop eye arm, a means for releasably securing the eye to a fishing line.

Preferably the bite indicator arm is brightly painted to enhance visual indication, a night light can be fitted to the arm of the indicator for enhanced visual indication at night.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described with the reference to the accompanying drawings in which; FIGURE 1- Shows in perspective the fish drop eye indicator attached to a fishing rod in the resting position.

In reference to the drawings comprising of the fish drop eye bite indicator, releasably secured to a hshing rod '26' as shown in fig 1, the position on the rod may vary depending on the type of rod to be used, the rod '26' is supported at the rear by a rod rest' 2' and at the front by a bite alarm rod rest ' 3', also shown is the fish drop eye indicator in the resting position.

Fig 2 shows the ash drop eye bite indicator eye in the indicator position, also shown is the line 21' encircled by eye '23'. A fish pulls on the fishing line, the line straightens bet been the reel '28' and the rod eyes '29', the eye '23' lifts towards clip IBM which comprises of an automatic catch which secures the eye.

The side view of the fish drop eye bite indicator as shown in he 3 is attached to a rod 26' by adjustable securing clips ' A' & ' B ', these allow the bite indicator to be releasable, A permanent method of attachment (not shown) can be used.

The clips ' A' & ' B ' as shown in fig 3 & 4 have a bolt'10' and a fly nut' 9', which when tightened holds the jaws ' 8' securely to the rod ' 26', fig 4 shows clip' A' and fig 5 shows clip B ' both clips have a grove '15' which allows the jaws ' 8' more movement to fit different size Diameter rods.

Fig 4 shows the clip 'A' comprises a hinge assembled from a drop arm '1' and hinge pin '11', the drop arm '1' is placed in the grove '13', the hinge pin '11' is inserted in the locating hole '16', at the same time passing through the drop arm '1' locating hole '2. The grove 13' also acts as a guide to ensure that the drop arm '1' keeps aligned to clip 'B'.

Fig 5 shows the rear clip ' B ' comprises an automatic catch assembled from a magnet '12' let into the bottom of the clip, a metal plate '14' which is fixed to a dowel '4' (shown in fig F), this plate also acts as a weight, the dowel has a hole ' 6' drilled through from end to end (shown in fig F) to allow it to be fitted on to the arm ' 1. as shown in fig G. When the plate'14' and magnet '12' are brought together they create the automatic catch. The dowel '4' shown in fig F has another hole drilled in ' 5' to hold a night light tube.

Fig E shows an open ended loop '23' which creates an eye, this is sprung closed allowing a fishing line to be inserted or removed, the eye is set at 90 degree angle to the arm '1' .

Claims

1 A fish drop eye bite indicator comprising of releasable securing clips for securing on to a fishing rod, the drop eye being adapted to pivot to and from the rod,a means for the drop eye to pivot from a releasable securing clip on the rod,a means of automatically securing to a releasable securing dip on the rod,a means of weighting the drop eye arm, a means for releasably securing the eye to a fishing line.

2 A ash drop eye bite indicator as claimed in claim 1 where in guide means are provided on the releasable clip to control the pivoting direction of the drop eye.

3 A ash drop eye bite indicator as claimed in claim 1 wherein adjustable means are provided on the releasable securing dips to secure onto different diameter rods.

4 A fish drop eye bite indicator as claimed in claim 10r claim 2 wherein the adjustment means is provided between the jaws of the securing dips.

A ash drop eye bite indicator as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the body is provided a holder for a night-light, which enhances visual indication in low visibility.

6 A ash drop eye bite indicator as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from Metal, plastics material or wood' or from a combination of these materials.

7 A ash drop eye bite indicator substantially as herein described and illustrated in the Accompanying drawings.
