Abstract

A multi-coloured light bulb 1 with filaments 8 producing different colours may be mounted on an infra-red receiver / dimmer unit 2 with a sound sensor 3 all control led by an infra-red or radio remote control unit 4, with a turntable mounting 5.

Description

1 2397942 Multi-coloured remote controlled light bulb an incandescent bulb
in a number of versions This invention relates to a multi-coloured remote control! ed light bulb.
The light bulb has been around for many years in its basic form but one feels that with a little ingenuity it can be made more interesting.
According to the present invention then it is proposed that the multicoloured light bulb may be made in one of two versions (A) or (B). In version (A) there is a bulb 1, inside which there are a number of filaments 8 which glow in different colours when power is supplied to them. In a very basic form this bulb may be made in both bayonet and screw fittings and then simply plugged into an existing light socket. Alternatively it may be made with a sound sensor 3 and or an infra-red sensor 2 to be controlled by an infra-red control box 4 which will enable the bulbs colour intensity to be varied by the user. Then again the multicoloured bulb may have more than just two electronic contact points - say two contact points in its base for each of the different coloured filaments inside it. This version of the bulb then may only be fitted into a special fitting item 10 which has an infra-red receiver 2 and sound sensor 3.
In addition there may also be a turntable fitting made as part of item 10 or made separately item 5 enabling the bulb to rotate at a set speed or at another speed as regulated by a built in timer.
The bulb may instead be made according to version (B) in figure 2. In this version there are no multi- coloured filaments these being replaced by a bulb "tree" 6, onto which are mounted a number of different coloured bulbs 7, these housed under the bulbs outer cover 9.
Again this bulb may be made to fit into any existing bayonet or screw bulb socket or it may be fitted with an infra-red contra 1 receiver 10 with infr-red detector 2 and / or sound sensor 3. Again unit 10 may also incorpor ate a turntable and timer and / or this turntable as in version (A) may be controlled by the infra-red control unit. The turntable being item 5.
Figure 3 shows a cross shape of the bulb 1, with its perspex or similar filament holders 2, multi-colour filame nts 3, its bayonet or screw fitting 4, the socket 5, with turntable mechanism, sound sensor 6, infrared or radio receiver 7, timer 8 and leads to power supply 9, in this version of the bulb (C) there may also be a light splitter electronic unit 10, there being made for this appropriate lamp shades 11. : . 1
Figure 4 shows the bulb in a bar shape form again with filament holder 2, multi-coloured filaments 3, screw or bayonet fitting 4, light splitter 10, with suitable lamp shade 11.
This being version (D) of the bulb.
Figure 5 shows yet another version of this bulb in curved form as version (D) above, curved lamp shade being availa ble. This being the (E) version of this incandescent light bulb.
The filaments of this bulb being treated with a chemical or chemicals or by some other process so that they glow in the desired colour of the spectrum as required or that the filament(s) be made of a type of material which gives off the desired colour when electricity is passed through it.
The lights control box 4 (see figure 1) having on it switches 12 which if pressed quickly switch the light on to its first colour setting if other switches are pressed quickly pressed switching on the power to one or more of the filaments of this bulb. If a switch is held down then that light colour of the correspo nding filament of this bulb dimms down and after a time glows brighter again as pre-set. Other switches may be used to switch on/off the sound sensor and to control the rotation of the turntable which may be able to rotate clockwise / counter-clockwise at one or more set speeds.
If for example colour (A) is switched on quickly pressing the control switch for filament (A) will switch this filament of this bulb off.

Claims (12)

1. A multi-coloured light bulb giving different colours from its various filaments made in both bayonet and screw fittings.
2. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claim 1 wherein there is incorporated into it or made as a special separate part an infra-red sensor, sound sensor, bu lb automatic colour pulsating timer control. So that the bulbs colour intensity may be controlled by the use of an infrared remote control unit.
3. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1 or 2 wherein it may have a turntable made as part of it or a turntable made as a special fitting for it. This turntable being controlled by an infra-red control unit and / or by an incorporated timer.
4. A multi-colour ed light bulb as claimed in claims 1-3 wherein rather than different coloured filaments the different colours are obtained from a number of smalle r light bulbs fitted onto a bulb "tree" inside the but bs outer cover. The colours of this version of the bulb being able to be remotely controlled by an infra- red remote control unit, infra-red sensor, sound sensor and / or timer.
5. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1- 4 and substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 to 5 of the accompanying drawing. an,
6, A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1- wherein if made as version (B) the outer cover may be removeable so that the smaller bulbs may be replaced should they fail.
7. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1- 6 wherein instead of infra-red control this function may be done by radio control.
8. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1-7 wherein it may be made in a cross shape, bar shape or curved shape also optionally incorporating a light splitter unit to allow only parts of this bulb to be illuminated according to signals sent from its remote control unit, the timer in these versions of the bulb (C) , (D) and (E) being able if so instructed by remote control signals to vary the power sent to the arms of these bulb shapes or to allow these bulbs to glow constant ly in one or other of their particular colours.
9. An incandescent multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1-8 in ANY size shape or form. l
10. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1-9 wherein if made in shapes (C), (D), (E) or other shape there may be made corresponding light shades for these bulb shapes.
11. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1-10 and associated fittings wherein the light splitter unit may be commanded by remote control to allow the colours of the arms to dim / glow brightly in response to musical or other sounds.
12. A multi-coloured light bulb as claimed in claims 1-11 wherein the filaments making up that bulb have been treated by a chemical process or processes such that a said filament may glow one of the colours of the spectra m as required or that the said filaments be made from such material that it glows the required colour when electricity is passed through it.
