Abstract

A cricket coaching aid for batting which is reversable, thus enabling the coach to use the aid with both left and right handed players. The feet positions for particular shots are marked on the mat in different colours, which will allow the player to easily identify the shot to be played.

Description

Reversible batting mat.
The invention relates to a coaching aid for cricket clubs, coaches and teachers to use to improve performers batting skills.
At present, the coaches are advised to mark out feet placement for different batting strokes with chalk on the floor to allow performers to see where they are supposed to place their feet. This, however, takes time and does not work on surfaces such as grass. Also when a left-handed batter is practicing the stumps and fielders have to move around causing disruption to the practice.
The aim of this invention is to have the foot markings already down and the coach to select the shot to practice in the session by telling the performers the colour of the shot. The mat is also reversible so that left and right handed players can use the mat with as little disruption to the session as possible.
The mat will allow five different shots to be coached using the coloured feet markings (1, 2, 5 & 6.
1- Forward defensive (red) 2- Off drive (blue) 5- Pull to leg (9reen) 6Square cut and back foot defensive. (yellow) The stance (3) straddles the crease line (4) and is the starting point for all the shots. Stumps can also be placed on the mat (8), but are not necessary. The side you are standing on is also marked (7) i.e. right handed.

Claims (2)

1. A cricket coaching mat for batting purposes, which is reversible to enable both left and right handed players to use the coaching aid.
2. A mat as claimed in Claim I where specific shots are marked on the mat to allow players to identify the shot they need to play.
