Abstract
An illuminated plaque, with protruding or non-protruding numerals A situated on the front, is made from either wood or plastic or a combination of these materials. The front section of the plaque is detachable from the rear section, which houses a bulb, by means of metal clip fasteners D. The bulb may be powered by mains electricity or by batteries.
Description
239743 1
ILLUMINATING DOOR NUMBERS
The invention relates to illuminating door numbers.
Non-illuminating door numbers are well known and are established within many households, however they suffer the disadvantage of being very difficult to see in the dark, from a long distance or in severe weathers conditions.
An object of this invention is to provide door numbers that are more visible in the dark, from a long distance or in severe weather conditions, such as fog or snow.
Accordingly, this invention provides plaques with petruding or nonpetruding door numbers situated on the front of the plaque that have the ability to illuminate whenever necessary.
The invention can be made from wood or plastic, or a combination of both materials as shown in the accompanying drawings.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 - shows the front view of the plaque, which is a detatchable front. The section marked A will be made from a clear or white plastic material, section B will also be made from plastic or wood and section C will be made from wood and varnished/stained for protection from the weather conditions. Section D shows the metal fasteners which will allow this section to be securely attached to the rear section of the plaque (as shown in Figures 2/3), the front section can then also be detached when it is necessary to change the bulb.
FIGURE 2 - shows a front view of the rear section of the plaque also shown in Figure 3. Within Figure 2 the section marked F shows the wire that will ultimately power the bulb, this will feed through a hole into the rear of the plaque, as shown in Figure 3. The section marked H is the bulb itself, the section marked C is made from wood, the section marked G is a plastic platform on which the bulb will be situated, this will securely fasten to the wood using super glue, section E will be hollow, made from wood and approximately 1 /" in depth to allow room for the plastic platform and the bulb.
FIGURE 3 - shows the rear view of the plaque which will be made from wood (marked E) or plastic as previously mentioned, from here the wire (marked F) from the bulb is pulled through to the rear to allow the invention to function via a light switch or plug socket whichever is more preferable or convenient to the user. If neither of the above are available the invention can be powered by batteries and a separate section can be inserted within the hollow section of the plaque to power the bulb. Attached to the rear of the plaque will be two keyhole fasteners in which screws can be placed to securely fasten the plaque to the wall, as shown in the section marked with an 1.
FIGURE 4 - shows the front and rear side views, the front side view, marked with A1, clearly shows the petruding door numbers (A), made from plastic, the numbers do not necessarily have to petrude but it is felt that the numbers would be more visible if they did. This section also shows 2 metal fastener clips (D), along with another 2 on the opposite side, these fasteners will allow the detatchable front section, as shown in Figure 1, to be attached and detatched to the rear section of the plaque, as shown in Figure 2. The section marked with B1 shows the side view of the rear section of the plaque which is fixed to the wall and shows the bulb slight petruding, to indicate the place where the bulb is inserted.
Claims (3)
1. A plaque with petruding or non-petruding numbers situated on the front that have the ability to illuminate whenever necessary.
2. A plaque which is made from wood or plastic or a combination of both these materials
3. A plaque substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
