Abstract

An offset rifle sighting system comprises a mobile element 5 which is slidably engaged within a housing element 7, a sight base 6, a rifle attachment ramp 8, a travel lock 4, an adjustable wheel portion 1, a tension spring 2 and a stop portion 3. The arrangement compensates for any parallax errors which occur when a user operates a rifle in an offset position (whereby the user operates the rifle with, for instance, his/her right hand but has to use his/her left eye for sighting and vice versa). The arrangement provides a range of windage adjustment (10mm, via wheel 1) and is therefore able to maintain a full range of micro adjustments in accordance with an associated range of errors. It also ensures that a stable head/eye position can be maintained with respect to the rear diopter, and can be used in association with a 65 mm fixed rear sight extension.

ADJUSUBLE OFFSET RIFLE FORESIGHT BASK.
This invention relates to offset rifle sighting system which is adjustable.
An offset rifle sighting system is used by shooters who have to for various reasons shoot with the right hand but use the left eye for sighting and visa versa.
This introduces an extensive parallax problem which absorbs large amounts of rear sight micro adjustment.
This invention introduces an adjustable element to the rifle foresight which can make large basic adjustments to the windage element of sighting thereby maintaining the full range of micro adjustment available in the rear sight element.
A specif c embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying illustrations.
As the illustrations indicate this invention has two main components which interact in a sliding action one of which item seven accommodates item f ve in a linear movement.
Item f ve is driven via item one and is tensioned by a spring item two.
Item seven is secured to the rifle foresight ramp via item eight.
The rifleforesight is secured to item f he the sliding element via foresight ramp item six.
When a satisfactory adjustment is achieved the mechanism is locked via item four l travel lock.
The available movement is I Omm which is more than stuff cient to accommodate ranges normally used in small bore shooting competition. r

Claims (4)

  1. C L A I M S. 1. This invention is an adjustable element in rifle sighing
in regard to offset sight Systems.
It consists of two basic elements which are interactive in that one accommodates the other to provide an adjustable sight base.
  2. 2. A sight system as indicated in claim one provides a large basic windage Adjustment to the sight system thereby maintaining the full range of Micro adjustment available on the rear sight element.
  3. 3. A sight system as indicated in the above claim provides a stable head/eye Position with regard to the rear diluter ensuring that rifle stock adjustments Are not required as a result of large rear sight deflections inherent in offset Sight systems.
  4. 4. This invention is designed to be used in harness with a 65mm fixed rear sighs Extension.
