Abstract
A wrench with a telescopic handle comprising three steel sections, of which two are hollow (1/5, Figure 2, C,D), and one solid (1/5, Figure 2, E). To prevent the over extension of the handle, washers (1/5, Figure 1, A,B) are attached to the base of the sections (1/5, Figure 2, C, D), rubber seals (1/5, Figure 1, J,K) may be fitted to the washers (1/5, Figure 1, A,B) to prevent moisture ingress in the tool. A rubber handgrip (1/5, Figure 5, H) may be provided. The socket (3/5, I) may also be welded to the tool handle.
Description
ll T WRENCH(Page 1) The T wrench is a Telescopic wrench which is an
extendable wrench to make the removal of wheel nutslbolts on the road wheel of a car easier.
It extends to three times the length of the original that you would find in the boot of your car and the aim of this tool is to give better leverage to make the wheel nuts/bolts easier to undo.
Example:-A ladies car breaks down on the side of the road with a puncture. wheel nuts can be very tight and can sometimes be impossible to remove with the small tool provided by the manufacturer but with the T wrench the extra leverage would make this task much easier.
The T wrench is made up of two sections of steel tubing and one solid steel section and these three sections fit together so that they can extend to give the leverage of the tool.
It also has rubber seals between the tubing sections to stop moisture getting into the parts.
A rubber handle grip is also fitted to the outer section.
Drawing 1/5 explained:-Large washer (A) should be welded to outer tube section (C) as indicated in the drawing.lts purpose is to prevent the middle tube section (D) from extending any further than necessary as this would result in tool failure.
Small washer (B) should be welded to middle tube section(D) Its purpose is to prevent the inner tube section (E) from extending any Further than necessary as this would result in tool failure.
Large end tubing (F) to be welded to bottom of middle tube section (D) to give support and to stop against top washer (A) to stop tool from being over extended.
Small end tubing (G) to be welded to bottom of inner tube section(E)to give support and to stop against washer (B) to stop tool from being over extended.
Large rubber seal (J) to be lubricated with oil and slipped inside washer (A) The purpose of the seal is to stop water and dirt getting inside the tool.
T WRENCH (Page 2) Small rubber seal (K) to be lubricated with oil and slipped inside washer (B) The purpose of the seal is to stop water and dirt getting inside the tool.
Completed sub assembly of middle tube section to be slipped inside and through outer tube assembly.Needs to extend to give full leverage.
Completed sub assembly of inner tube section to be slipped inside and through middle tube assembly. Needs to extend to give full leverage.
Now that tube sections have been assembled the socket head (1) can be welded to the end of the inner tubing (E).
The rubber handle grip (H) can now be pushed over the lower half of the outer tube section. This should be a firm fit and may be glued in place, it also seals the end of the tool as it has a bottom.
Drawing 2/5 explained:-This drawing shows seals (J) and (K) in more detail showing the taper of the seals and where they fit and to make the seals clearer.
Drawing 3/5 explained:-This drawing shows the parts to be welded and has arrows to indicate where each weld is made.
Drawing 4/5 explained-This drawing shows the tool assembled and in its retracted form (filly retracted) fig 1 shows the tool assembled and fig 2 shows the rubber hand grip to be fitted.
Drawing 5/5 explained:-This drawing shows shows the tool fully extended in Fig l.lt also shows the tool in use in Fig 2.
Example of how tool is used:-
Wheel nuts/bolts can be very tight to undo and when you have a puncture on the side of the road this tool can be extended to give good leverage and make it so that the wheel nuts/bolts can be removed with ease by any adult meaning you dont have to be strong to undo them.
