Abstract
A telescopic wrench, e.g. for engaging vehicle wheel nuts, includes an elongate tubular member (10) with a plurality of apertures (101) on one side thereof, a telescopic rod (20) adapted to fit into the elongate tubular member, and a spring-loaded cap (30) mounted in a hole of the telescopic rod and adapted to engage with any one of the apertures of the elongate tubular member, whereby the telescopic wrench can be adjusted in length. <IMAGE>
Description
TITLE: A TELESCOPIC WRENCH
This invention relates to a telescopic wrench.
It has been found that the prior art wrench is connected-with an extension rod with circular section in order to prolong its length. However, the wrench cannot be firmly connected with the extension rod thereby often causing hurt to the user.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a telescopic wrench which may obviate and mitigate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
It is the primary object of the present invention to provide a telescopic wrench which may ensure the safety of the user.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the present invention;
FIG. 3A is a sectional view of the present invention
FIG. 3B is a front view of the telescopic rod; and
FIGS. 4A, 4B, 4C and 4C are working views of the present invention.
With reference to the drawings and in particular to
FIGS. 1 and 2 thereof, the telescopic wrench according to the present invention mainly comprises an elongated tubular member 10, a telescopic rod 20, a positioning device 30, and a handle grip 11.
The elongated tubular member 10 and the telescopic rod 20 are square in cross section. The handle grip 11 is rigidly mounted on an end of the elongated tubular member 10. Further, the elongated tubular member 10 is provided with a plurality of apertures 101 on one side thereof.
The telescopic rod 20 is adapted to fit into the elongated tubular member 10 and has a hole 21 in which is mounted the positioning device 30. The positioning device 30 includes a cap 30, a spring 301 disposed under the cap 30, and a circular plate 303 located under the spring 301. In addition, the telescopic rod 20 is provided with a spring-loaded ball 50 at both ends. The lower end of the telescopic rod 20 makes an angle of about 45 degrees with the length of the telescopic rod 20.
Looking now at FIGS. 3A and 3B, when the telescopic rod 20 is inserted into the elongated tubular member 10, the cap 301 will be forced by the spring 301 to go upwards to engage with an aperture 101 of the elongated tubular member 10 thereby keeping the telescopic rod 20 in a fixed position. When desired to adjust the length of the telescopic wrench according to the present invention, simply press the cap 301, pull the telescopic rod 20 outwards or push the telescopic rod 20 into the elongated tubular member 10 to obtain the desired length of the telescopic wrench, and then release the cap 301 to engage with the corresponding aperture 101 of the elongated tubular member 10. Hence, the telescopic wrench according to the present invention may be adjusted in length as required. Further, as the elongated tubular member 10 and the telescopic rod 20 are square in cross section, the telescopic rod 20 will not rotate in working thus ensuring safety.
Obviously, many modifications may be made without departing from the basic spirit of the present invention.
Accordingly, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that within the scope of the appended claims, the invention may be practiced other than has been specifically described herein.
