Abstract

A dodgem car electrical pick-up/collector includes a dome head (D) (see fig 3) fixed to a tube (C) and mounted on a post (A) this is is spring mounted using a compression spring (B). The dome can move both up and down and also rotate.

Description

Dodgem Car "Pick-Up" The invention relates to a superior type of
electrical "pick-up" for use on dodgem cars This carries the electrical supply to the car The traditional swan neck shaped leaf-spring type often causes damage to the overhead mesh conductor, this is because it presents a knife edge toward any joints during reversal The invention eliminates this hazard and also damage to itself by always presenting a domed profile to the mesh whatever the direction of travel The domed head is spring loaded by means of a compression coil spring which provides superior travel and also offers a parallel electrical path to the telescopic sliding members Preferably the pick-up should be made from steel A shown in figure I the pick-up consists of a domed head (D) welded to a tube (C) which then sits on the mounting rod (A) the spring loaded tension is provided by a spring (B). The domed head will both rotate and rise and fall when in operation. Figure 2 shows the invention from another angle and figure 3 shows a cross-sectional view

Claims (2)

  1. I A dodgem car electrical pick-up for use on dodgem cars consisting of a dome shaped top fitted on top of a tube which is then mounted on a solid rod and spring loaded for tension
  2. 2. A dodgem car pick-up as in claim I which can be made on different lengths and diameters for different applications 3 A dodgem car pick-up/collector substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings
