Abstract

A notepad comprising a plurality of sheets 3, each sheet having at least one patch of adhesive and at least one line of perforations 2 extending across the sheet and cutting through the adhesive. The adhesive adheres each sheet of the notepad to an adjacent sheet, and maintains at least some stickiness when detached from the notepad. Preferably the adhesive extends entirely across the sheet, and may be disposed adjacent to an edge 1 of the sheet 3. Alternatively the adhesive may be a single patch. The line of perforations 2 may be perpendicular to the edge of the notepad so that small or large sections of the notepad may be detached for use.

Description

A NOTEPAD
The invention relates to a notepad and more specifically to a notepad comprising self-
adhesive sheets of paper which may be removed from the pad and adhered to a destination surface.
Self-adhesive notepads are well-known and are used in many situations such as attaching notes to surfaces or marking pages in books, providing a means of retaining the paper in place.
A problem with these notepads is that they can be wasteful of paper. A user is obliged to peel off a whole sheet each time he wishes to make use of one, regardless of the size needed. According to the present invention there is provided...
Perforations are a known method of piercing paper at equidistant points to provide a controlled tear along a defined line. Depending on which perforation is selected, different size combinations of strip can be detached.
This invention combines these two principles in order to create flexibility in the size of note that you wish to detach from the pad.
These perforated lines would in most cases run in a straight line at right angles to the adhesive patch, across the full width of each sheet. However any shape, angle, distance across sheet or number of perforated lines could be used as provided by the invention.
This invention is not restricted to a single patch of adhesive as multiple rows of notes could be included on a single pad and therefore would need multiple patches of adhesive. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a view of the notepad before any strips are removed.
Figure 2 illustrates the notepad with a number of strips detached and more strips in the process of being detached.
Referring to the drawing the notepad comprises of a number of sheets of paper 3, that are held to one another by an adhesive patch covering a sufficient surface area towards one side of the pad 1. Each sheet of paper is provided with a patch of adhesive disposed on the rear surface of the sheet adjacent an edge. Preferably the patch of adhesive extends along the entire length of the edge. The notepad is preferably of the type made available to the public under the trademark Post-It Notes. Each sheet has perforations 2 running across it at right angles. As sheets are required these can be detached 4 and a preferred size is selected by ripping along the relevant perforation and detaching it from the pad.

( CLAIMS
1 A notepad comprising a plurality of sheets, each sheet having at least one patch of adhesive disposed thereon and at least one line of perforations extending across the sheet, each line of perforations oriented to cut at least one patch of adhesive, wherein the patch of adhesive serves to adhere each sheet to an adjacent sheet of the notepad and the adhesive if of a type that maintains at least a fraction of its adhesivity when each sheet is detached from the notepad.
2. A notepad as claimed in claim 1 wherein the patch of adhesive extends entirely across the sheet.
3. A notepad as claimed in either claims 1 or 2 wherein the patch of adhesive is disposed adjacent an edge of the sheet.
4. A notepad as claimed in claim 3 wherein each of the at least one line of perforations extends perpendicular to the edge.
5. A notepad as claimed in any one of the preceding claims wherein the at least one patch of adhesive is a single patch of adhesive.
6. A notepad substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
6. A notepad substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
