Abstract
A free standing, portable motorcycle turntable (fig. 1) includes two metal plates 1, 2 mounted one on top of the other such that top plate 1 is free to rotate through 360{ and is capable of securely supporting a motorcycle when the motorcycle is set on its own stand (fig 3). Preferably top plate 1 will be bolted to bottom plate 2 such that they are secure but top plate 1 is free to turn about the bolt 7. The upper surface of top metal plate 1 will have a rectangular slot 5 formed from round metal bar centralised and welded to provide a secure location to accommodate the motorcycle mounted on its stand (fig. 3).

MOTORCYCLE TURNTABLE
The invention relates to a free standing, portable turntable of the type which includes two metal plates mounted one above the other such that the top plate is free to rotate through 360 and is capable of securely supporting a motorcycle when the motorcycle is set on its own stand.
When cleaning or carrying out maintenance to a motorcycle for example, it is usual to set the cycle on its own stand and thus maneuvering the machine becomes difficult. If the work is being carried out in a confided space, say the corner of a garage, and the cycle needed to be moved to enable work to continue to the opposite side of the cycle, the cycle would have to be taken off it's stand and wheeled about.
An object of this invention is to provide a secure base on which a motorcycle can be stood and easily rotated through 360 rnalcing all aspects of the motorcycle accessible from a single standpoint.
Accordingly, this invention provides a free standing, portable turntable capable of securely supporting a motorcycle set on its own stand allowing the motorcycle to be rotated through 360 for easy access to all aspects of the motorcycle.
Preferably the turntable is made of metal.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE I shows an angled view of the turntable.
FIGURE 2 shows an exploded view of the turntable.
FIGURE 3 shows a side view of motorcycle on side stand with the turntable placed underneath prior to use.
FIGURE 4 shows a side view of motorcycle with centre stand on turntable, front wheel on ground.
FIGURE 5 shows motorcycle with centre stand on twntable, pressure applied to back end of motorcycle lifting Ront wheel off ground FIGURE 6 shows overhead view of motorcycle able to rotate 360 once Font wheel is lined of the ground.
As shown in figure I the turntable is of a compact design.
Figure 2 shows that the turntable comprises a bottom steel plate 2 with a hole drilled through the centre. A hollow pre-threaded steel dowel 3 is inserted into the hole in
bottom plate 2 and welded such that it is flush with the underside of bottom plate 2. A carrying handle 4 made from round metal bar is welded to the side of bottom plate 2.
Top plate 1 is made to the same dimensions as bottom plate 2. Top plate 1 has a clearance hole drilled through the centre such that dowel 3 will just pass through the hole when top plate I is offered to bottom plate 2.
Top plate I is secured to bottom plate 2 by means of bolt 7 and spring washer 8 inserted and tightened into pre-threaded dowel 3. Prior to securing top plate 1 to bottom plate 2 a smear of grease is applied to the upper surface of bottom pate 2 to allow the top plate 1 to slide easily over bottom plate 2.
A rectangular frame 5 made from round metal bar is welded to the oentre of the top surface of top plate I. Rectangular frame 5 is designed such that it can securely accommodate a motorcycle centre stand.
Four grease nipples 6 are fitted to allow effective greasing of the turntable during service.
As shown in figures 3, 4, 5 and 6 the turntable is placed under the motorcycle, the motorcycle by means of its centre stand is then set on the turntable. Applying enough pressure to the back ofthe motorcycle to lid the front wheel off the ground enables the motorcycle to be rotated 360 in either direction.
