Abstract
A bath timer alarm device for audibly / visually indicating that the water level in a bath has reached a predetermined level set by a user comprises: a water resistant casing (9) with suction cups (8) for attachment; a low level power source (1); a colour changing LED (2) showing the device is operational and the current level of charge remaining; a three way switch (3) allowing on, off and test functions; an electric circuit connecting the switch, power source and LED to a preprogrammed chip (4), volume adjuster (5) and speaker (6); and conducting terminals (7) externally mounted on the rear of the device such that when the water level reaches the terminals it closes the circuit thus activating the alarm. The casing may be of any desired shape, size or colour following popular themes or icons. Preferably the preprogrammed chip contains warnings including sets of tunes, sounds or musical phrases.
Description
The Bath Timer 2389658 This nvenbon relates to an electrical alann It is a
low powered electrical device which attaches via suction cups to the Inside wall of a bathtub allowing the user to pre-detenntne the desired water level This device has been designed to prevent the potential problem of over flowing the bathtub resulting m expensive water damage to carpets Doors and ceilings Alongside acting as an wdble/vsual waning system the Bath Timer can also be relied upon to free the user to undertake other tasks whilst the water reaches nS pre-deterrnned level The device uses sold-state electronics to remove the possible failure of moving parts The Bath Timer comprises of a low level electucalb charged power source to ensure safety to the user colour changing LED three way switch pre-programmed clup containing a single or selectable Edible warmog from a multiple set of hnes/sounds or musical phrases volume adjuster switch speaker two conduenog terminals suction cups water nght cssmg for the electrical components and a front facing mouldng The mouldmg can be designed to compliment the aesthetics of the bathroom by taking on the appearance of popular sea creatures/cons which can be made m any size shape and colour making the deuce un obtrusive practical and ornamental The device will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings In winch F'gure I - Shows potential placement of components In an example of a possible sea creature mouldmg design Figure 2 - Crcuit/block diagram of Bath Timers electrical components Figure 3 Represents a cross-seehona1 view of a bathtub with Bath Tlrner according to invention The complete Bath Timer devace according to the Invention is shown at 10 In figure 3 The dance 10 attaches to the bathtub 12 via suction cups 8 In figure 1 allowing easy adjustment to set the desired water level or removal by the user as required A power source 1 LED 2 power switch 3 macro chip 4 volume Schuster 5 speaker 6 in figures I and 2 are mounted m a water tight casmg situated on the reverse of the Bath Timer Mouldulg 9 in f gure 1 to reduce the possbilny of water darLage to therm The Bath Timer uncloses a three-way switch 3 figures I and 2 to allow off test and on settings For the purpose of Illustration the switch 3 m figure 1 is shown m the on position and In figure 2. switch 3 Is shown In the off position When the test setting Is selected a colour changing LED 2 figures I and 2 Is used to notify the user of the current level of charge remaining within the power source of the device This feature helps to remove the possibility of urut failure due to inadequate power by Robing the user m plenty of time that the power source Is In need of replacement The test mode also activates the full arcwt figures I and 2 thus triggering the alarm components 2 3 4 5 6 m figures I and 2 allowing the user to check the full work ng order of the deuce and make alterations to the alarm sound of microchip 4 figures I and 2 and the volume level of the alarm ma a volume adjuster switch 5 figures I and 2 to suit that requirements When switch 3 figures I and 2 Is In the on position the circuit Is leR open thus dsabimg the alarm components 2 3 4 5 6 in figures I and 2 The dance 10 figure 3 Is then triggered by the water itself 11 figure 3 nsmg to the pro-
deternuned level set by the user Mach crosses the two conducting terminals 7 figures I and 2 thus closing and actvabng the circuit shown m figures I and 2 flus allows the pre-programmed chip 4 and speaker 6 figures I and 2 to sound/play a set or selected sound/tune or musical phrase to alert the user that the desired water level has been reached When activated in on mode LED 2 figures I and 2 acts as a visual indicator that the desired water level has been reached whist again dsplying the current level of charge rernarnng The two conducting terminals 7 figures I and 2 are externally mounted on the rear of the moulding 9 figure 1 outside the watertight casing and extend several centmetres below the electronic components 2 3 4 5 6 figures I and 2 Ttus allows water access to the terminals and gives the user plenty of time to stop the water flow and remove the device before the water has chance to reach the electucat components agam reducing the potential risk of water damage to the main elechonc churchly
